Cromer for an October Week

The Seacroft site is becoming quite a regular for us. As motorhomers it’s the ideal location as you have immediate access to regular bus services from the site entrance. Also, a relatively easy walk into Cromer. Train services are also available in Cromer and Sheringham. Now rather odd that the Club’s recently published Blog “Top 7 Club campsites near transport” makes no mention of Seacroft but mentions a few sites which are not that convenient for transport!

There is always a decision to be made as to what is the best route from MK to North Norfolk. We have tried most of them and this time went via Peterborough and Wisbech and then onto Kings Lynn. It seemed a long way although in miles very similar to other routes. We might have to wait until they build the Norwich western bypass link road which will make the journey easier. We had booked a serviced pitch which was a bit of a luxury but why not!

During our stay we made a couple of visits to both Cromer and Sheringham. On our first day we walked into Cromer using the cliff top car park to get to the path down into Cromer. It was a beautiful day if a bit chilly from the wind but a fleece and walking keeps you warm. Having stopped for coffee and a walk around the town we caught the bus back to the site. The next day we took the bus in the opposite direction to Sheringham. When in the town we always take a turn around the wonderful Blyth and Wright hardware store, an absolute Aladdin’s Cave. We continued down to the sea as we wanted to visit “The MO” or the Sheringham Museum to give its proper name. Full of wonderful exhibits not only about the Towns Life Boats but also the development of the town once the railways had arrived.

Over the remainder of our stay, we alternated between the two towns, supermarkets in both for topping up supplies. Seacroft is one of a handful of Club sites that has a restaurant. We did get a takeaway one night but did discover they have large screens in both sections so thought better of having a “quiet” meal in house! We were blessed with really good weather with just a couple of rain showers but otherwise wall to wall sunshine which was probably the best weather we had, had all year!

Surprising how quickly a week goes and time to make our way home. Decided to take our more traditional route home via Fakenham, Swaffham and Newmarket. Only one more trip planned for this year and we have to wait until December.
