I think they are invaluable, and wouldn't be without mine.
So far, it has protected our caravan from 3 bird strikes, stones thrown up from passing vehicles, mud and muck and prevented damage when a wing mirror dropped off on the motorway and bounced off the front of the caravan
My advice is to buy one that covers all of the front of the caravan, not just windows. We bought ours from Protec. Had it now for 8 years with 2 caravans. It can be a pain to put on, but you soon get used to it. I think they are better than Specialised Covers which are easier to put on, but not as robust.

I’ve had a couple of towing covers for 2 different vans and I have to say they are the best accessory we have purchased. At this time of the year with the sugar beet harvest ongoing with mud strewn all over the roads they provide real protection.
Our current cover is 4 years old and apart from letting md dry and then brushing it off the only other maintenance we carry out is to wax the zip (candle wax)

They weren't around when I had a caravan but like AD I don't think I could be bothered today with the clat of fitting it or cleaning it. Mud flaps on the towing vehicle provide quite a bit of protection and in 13 years of towing I never experienced any damage to any of my caravans. Always struck me as being a bit gimmicky like tow bar covers.

Likewise I have been towing for over 50 yrs and never had one. I have never had any damage to the front of my caravans but my tow cars have always had mud flaps fitted. AD tow bar cover 'gimmicky'? I fit mine every night I stop because once, before I did this, the overnight heavy dew in N France shorted the connector and when I turned the fog light on in the morning the main fuse in the car blew resulting in complete loss of lights in both car and caravan! Went to local VW garage and they quickly diagnosed the problem replaced fuse (and gave me a couple of spares) and sent me on my way free of charge. Hence, I now fit the towbar cover every night.

commeyras, I was always led to believe that it was better to have a free flow of air over the tow bar rather than lock damp in under a cover. I used to make sure the connectors dangled downwards so any rain or damp did not get into the business end.
