Club looking to recruit……

I would think that much of the budget of £230,000 would be taken up with wages etc of those that are assigned to the CL section, 15 plus the expenses of 45 volunteer admin assistants.

I didn't get those numbers, Nelie. My guess would be 6 Administrators/Senior Administrators if employed could only be part-time because even at the minimum wage the budget would barely cover their wage plus social costs. Leaving a bit of out-of-pocket expenses for the 45 consultants/advisors (say £50k p/a). Then, where does the cost of the new post come from? A full time manager salary plus social costs would wipe that budget right out. I think someone is knitting with smoke!
I found the "looking for new business opportunities" item intriguing because CL's are independent businesses, so what opportunities could these be? We have friends who are CL owners and the club do virtually nothing for them apart from list them in the book/website. Any attempt to require a fee or commission from CL's would probably be a very bad idea, as there are other organisations able to take CL's into their fold. Perhaps that is the club's intention?

Club does take a fee from new CLs. They have to be Members, even if they don’t tour themselves. We have friends who have owned CLs for years, before the Club took a fee off owners. I don’t think all long standing owners pay a fee, but not sure nowadays. It usually states in handbook if a CL owner is a Member or not.

I would be surprised if the £230,000 included remuneration other than perhaps general expenses, travel for example, for the volunteer inspectors? It would seem to me that the money is the amount to Club use to maintain the CL network by means of communicating with CL owners, promotion of the network, any IT requirements, site directory preparation etc?

Perhaps a question for someone to submit to the AGM? The more questions the merrier. Remember you don’t have to be there, and although only a couple of questions are answered at the AGM the rest are answered afterwards.
Ive already submitted a question and I think you can only ask one.

Whatever it is used for, David, it is a drop in the ocean compared to the amount that the "club" raises from the membership fees of CL owners snd those that exclusively use CLs, I'm sure.

I think the detail of the budget is of no great importance, certainly to us members. I am concerned that employing a CL manager responsible for "investigating business opportunities" will be an attempt to interfere with, and to tap into, the revenue flow of CL's. Will CL's eventually have to be booked via the club booking website? Is this the question I should ask of the AGM. I had a look this afternoon to see how one would ask a question and was unable to navigate my way to it.

Obbernockle, re your description of the CL Manager role, it could have been designed with one particular person in mind. I’ll say no more.

That's a bit unfair. I don't have access to some things which you presumably do. To say what you have and then that "you will say no more" is a real downer.
"my description" is what the club included in the statement a day or so ago.

There’s nothing unfair about it. I have no more access to info than you but I read what’s going on and can see a possible chain of events. I note that at least one other person has worked it out.

£230K is a paltry sum, particularly in the light of what has been frittered away on the recent IT debacle. It shows how little CAMC values its CL network.
I wonder how many CL owners will eventually decide that a listing in the SD isn't worth it and seek registration with another organisation. I can see the demise/decimation of the CL network in the future resulting in CAMC becoming a Static/Pod/Storage organisation with a few touring pitches more as an afterthought rather than core business.

The new booking system is intended for finding and booking club sites and CL's. Booking involving a deposit would enable the club to become much more influential with CL owners, helping to regulate prices etc, all done in the nicest possible way.

Heaven forbid. The Club should remain a certificating agency only, annual safety checks and leave the CL owners to run things as they want. That’s why they are so nice, and such good value for money.

I completely agree and expect most CL owners would agree too. The club is managed as a business though, and there seems to be no empathy between the members, CL owners and club management. The recruitment of a CL manager is a clear indication of the way it's heading. Any business opportunity must include intent to make a profit.
JVB66 has it right in my opinion, and I think we are already seeing more CL's with Pods/Shepherds huts, and lodges.
The emergence of the recently formed CL Booking website seems to slot in nicely. Look how the numbers of CL's listed there are now growing. The formality of Exemption Certification is not difficult, as so many have already shown.

I think the CL Bookings App was more a direct response to Club apathy than anything else. Owners who had invested time, finance, etc.. into small businesses, but finding reliance upon Club aspects not enough, and decided to do things for themselves. The bookings website debacle has shown how right they were to be honest.
CL Bookings App isn’t perfect, but it’s streets ahead of anything now offered by the Club in terms of searches, ease of booking, etc…. And it’s backed up with a lot more interesting information.

Just as an aside to CL's having Pods etc. They may well have been funded under the Farm Diversification scheme.
"The Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE) is a funding programme under the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) with a budget of £3.5 billion. The current programme runs from 2014 to 2020."
It appears to be no longer running so whether you will see much in the way of expansion in future I don't know?

Well, we know one club with a massive investment fund for such "business opportunities" don't we?
