I have been trying to make a booking this afternoon and keep getting the Lego men. Clearly they have been brought out of retirement due to staff shortages.😀

Did you work around it Steve by using the phone?

Not yet, as it’s well in the future. Hopefully they’ll plug in a few bricks and everything will start up again.🤞

I've just done a booking about 10 minutes ago and it worked for me. Perhaps supermario has taken over the lego men?

I've often said that it doesn't really matter if CT forum acts up, frustrating though that is, but the booking system is another matter.

Managed to make them now. Just another minor glitch it would seem.☹️ Trouble is you can never be sure on this website.

Why have the Club gone away from advance booking. Due to demand of our favourite site we have always booked a year in advance. we have used this site for a great number of years only to be told this year we have to wait until November before we can book. this is a backward step by the club.

Just another question why are annual bookings allowed on sites which have a huge touring potential. This policy only reduces the accessibility for the popular sites.

See this thread. Although the opening post was written in June, the position with forward bookings is just the same. We’re all in the dark.

I'm afraid I don’t understand your point in the second post.

Seasonal pitches obviously reduce the number of pitches available for touring.

Just tried to sort out a booking for a week in Fife and have given up. The app won't work the website won't recognise me and the phone line is not answered. I even tried calling the site direct only to get a recorded message telling me to book through the web page or phone the help line number. I am now admitting defeat. The changes to the system at best are a step backward. I have booked through the web page and app many times and never had a problem whoever has decided to alter almost everything must come to the next AGM and explain there thinking because for the life of me I can't see the improvements so far.

I am reading that you need to uninstall the 'old app' and install the new one.  The old app is the one which says "UK sites".

Yes, but did the club tell us...NO. Unless you are on social media, which many of us are not.

There were negative comments about the app a short while ago. Is it actually worth downloading the new one. I have the gravest misgivings on any IT that has CAMC fingerprints all over it.

But you are happy to post on CT which is hosted on a CAMC IT system?

Works well enough on an iPad. I think they must have done most of there testing on Apple devices, as there seems to be many less issues raised than for Android.

But surely the app is intended for I-phone, the majority of which have Android operating systems. Again an introduction of something that has not been properly tested so that they can grab as much cash as they can in the shortest possible time.

Apple (i phone) is a comletely different operating system to Android.

Just booked a site using the new system for the first time,no problems whatsoever. Downloaded app to Android phone and it is also working, showed my new booking details straight away.

I assume you mean smart phone nellie, and yes I agree it should also have been tested on Android, which clearly it hasn’t. I would disagree that its designed use is a phone though. Although it works adequately on my iphone the filter buttons for sites, CL’s and POI are far to large and get in the way. It clearly hasn’t been thought through how it will work on the small screen. All of which makes me think it was designed about a pad, specifically an iPad, as it works well on those devices. I assume the CC will have figures of what devices folk use and perhaps Apple is dominant and they have concentrated there testing and development there.

Its biggest flaw, applicable to both iOS and Android, is that it relies on a phone signal that is not always available on remote sites/CLs.

I think that is rapidly becoming a thing of the past. We are just coming to the end of a tour of the far north of Scotland and I was amazed at how much things have improved. So far I have not failed to get a phone and 4G signal on EE. Even had 5G at Dingwall and North Ledaig. Altnaharra now has a phone signal and good 4G on both EE and O2 and you can’t get much more remote than that.

I think it is still very variable. Parts of Pembrokeshire had no signal for us earlier in the year. I accept it can be provider specific, but if you have a device that works in most places you can still have an issue. And I understand there is still no signal of any kind at Clumber Park?

Not actually on the site. However if required, good EE and O2 signals are available about 200 metres from the entrance. Or of course you could subscribe to CC WiFi😀
