How to clean a motorhome roof
The roof of my Swift Bessacar 562 is disgusting. Being a short person, I’m struggling to access the roof to clean it, via a ladder, I can’t reach the middle of the roof or the high-top. I’ve tried using an extendable brush but can’t apply enough pressure to remove the grime. Would it be safe for me to actually get on the roof or am I likely to damage seals etc? I asked my local dealer if they offer a cleaning service but they don’t. I’d be grateful to hear what people think.

Risky to go on to a wet motorhome roof. Do an internet search for caravan cleaning in your area - then phone

Apart from safety, there’s no way I would trust the roof of a coachbuilt to stand on. It’s asking to induce cracks, leaks and goodness knows what.

We keep our MH in storage and they offer a cleaning service (£30) so it may be worth ringing round Caravan & Motorhome storage facilities in your area to see if they'd clean yours... or at least know someone who would.

It will depend where you live but if the road outside your house is not a main road could you not clean it parked in the road where you could turn the motorhome around to get at both sides from the pavement?

I can recomend the " Henchman Platform Ladder" .A four legged one that i use to do the roof of the 'Concorde' .I have pictures ,but not able to upload them !!

I stand on the roof of our Autosleepers coachbuilt. It seems robust to me. Obviously, don’t stand on the wet bit so kneel down and work away from the part you are cleaning. Easy for me to say as I can reverse up to a flat roof garage but whether I would trust using step ladders I’m not so sure!

I stand on the roof of my motorhome to clean it and cover it. I read somewhere that it will take the weight of a 14 stone person. I've not had an issue with it in 11 years.

I bit the bullet and purchased some steel scaffold sections and casters from

The working level for the platform is the same height as the mhome with a handrail higher so that you can lean on it as you clean the roof.
Fenwicks motor home clean tends to remove most muck, Spray / wipe on, let it sit for a few minutes then brush off with broom, or “ broom” with a water feed.
