Looking for coastal route tour advice
Hi, One and All,
We are Mark, Julie and our dog Harley. We have recently returned to caravanning after some 25 years due to our dog being unable to travel abroad due to age and health issues. We are looking to take our first long road trip from this weekend and we are seeking advice on good coastal routes and sites to stop over at along the way. We will be starting from Newquay in Cornwall and looking to head up the west coast via wales and on up into Scotland, then back down the east coast ending in Portsmouth around December. Any advice welcomed and thanks for taking the time to read this.
cheers 🍻
Mark and Julie

Moved from Introductions in the hope that more people will see your post earlier and, hopefully, give you some advice ready for the weekend.

An ambitious plan. My own go to places would include these…
North Cornwall - the headlands and bays either side of the Camel estuary and bike hire on the Camel Trail
North Devon - the RHS garden at Rosemoor.
Somerset- Cheddar gorge.
SouthWales - St Fagans museum.
North Wales - the heritage railways at Porthmadog.
Cumbria - the sand dunes at Eskmeals and a meal at the Brown Cow Inn at Waberthwaite.
Southern Scotland -Culzean Castle.
Central Scotland - Glasgow of course
The highlands - the Cuillins on Skye again.
But as for caravansites along the way ? More or less any that are convenient would do. Good luck with your own choices.

Trickier with a caravan than a motorhome as you are less able to "wing it" and an element of forward planning is required dependant on which sites are still open so late in the year. Lots of interesting places around the UK but you may find you are constrained by the proximity of sites to places you may wish to visit.
Had you been a motorhomer I would have suggested finishing off with a stop-off at "Mick's Monster Burgers" up the hill overlooking QA.

Obviously I’m new to this, do I need to look in other forums to see reply’s or will the places you’ve moved it to show up here ?

It’ll all be here in this thread, R2R 👍🏻
That’s a huge undertaking and I think you will be constrained by what sites are open in winter but at least those that are shouldn’t be crowded.
I'd allow plenty of time to tour the west coast of Scotland if I were you as the scenery is stunning as it also is in the far north.

Thankyou for the advice and reply but just want to get away and explore so we’ll see where we end up. 👍

Agree with this. We live in North East and Anglesey is one of our go to places each year. We stay in Moelfre on a commercial site - 4* ( sorry C&MC🤭 ) which is walking distance to the local beach (pebble) but other beaches on the island are stunning and not crammed and generally have a hostelry nearby. Not sure about all being open in December though.
