Early arrivals - action at last?

If site staff have been told by head office to turn arrivals away if they arrive before 1.00 pm, what do you expect them to do? If they let one outfit arrive on site before that time then others will still carry on arriving before the allotted time ad infinitum.

It’s obviously been a big problem with early arrivals this Summer. There are two reviews for Exeter Racecourse where the posters admit to turning up early, then having a right old moan about things. One 10.30am, other 11.30am. Can only presume they sat in big area other side of track until 1pm. (That’s the area where the early arrivee at Hillhead could have sat to kill a bit of time before setting off)

If a policeman asks you to do something around a rule, let’s say move off parking on double yellows, where you might cause an obstruction, or even an accident, would one (rhetorical question) say no?
Personally, I wouldn’t, because I know I am doing something I shouldn’t be doing, I also from a moral point of view know that it’s a selfish action, only undertaken for my own gratification. I also know that if I say no, then things will escalate and what is a trivial rule break really, could result in the situation getting a whole lot worse for me personally.
Slightly more serious situation than the Hillhead saga, but technically, only the uniforms are different. Both are staff having to enforce rules.

But one of the players was given two chances to break the chain yet did not take either and actually they had three, the first being to abide by they rules they agreed to and not arrive early, and which in my view they did so knowingly.
Also there was one player and one referee, not two equal players.

Yes, I fully comprehend that the two situations are different, but it’s fundamentally the same issue, one of staff being employed to enforce a rule, and one of visitors/members of the public/ whoever not complying with a rule. And being foolish enough to argue the toss, which is where things escalate.
I don’t happen to think that applying such a blanket policy is the best solution, but I can understand that in the face of what sounds like a growing problem, it’s possibly the easiest answer. Easiest in terms of applies everywhere, easiest in terms of all but the communicatively challenged being able to understand it, and the added bonus is that it will please all those Members who like things very clearly demarcated, nothing grey. Or as it’s known “you said, we did”.

Apart form being sometime ago as pointed out I can't find any mention at all in that review saying they were two hours early Euro? It does say a couple of hours but that could be more or less than two hours, and in this case it's probably very elastic.
Also I've never ever heard of paying for being early, unless it is for use of the LNA where charges do apply.

There’s obviously far more to the story and, probably, a misunderstanding as well.
I wonder if the extra payment was the electricity surcharge? 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️

I take it as many from overseas he did not have a booking either so did not get any, as all members get when booking , advance notice of arrival times? a lesson for the French when trying to tour in this very crowded.island
Would be less crowded if his country carried out what our government. paid them to do

I'm sure there is. I couldn't get anywhere near that £23 using any of the prices.

A family member met some nice German folk who told them the C&MC are the best in the world-the Wardens where more like friends than authority figures. They intend to invite them to Berlin for Christmas. There. . .That was nice wasn’t it👍🏻😊

Sometimes when hearing the word no, no matter how sugar coated, it may well be construed as aggressive by some, particularly when someone doesn’t get their own way and, by their actions, appear to be foolish in their own eyes. Such folk walk amongst us!

It happened to me too. The number of CT posters who meet people abroad who immediately talk about the club is amazing. Anyway on an Tuscany site I met an Italian couple who said club sites were the best.

A slight variation here. I met French people at the Brittany Ferries port wandering around asking "où est Looe CAMC site de camp, s'il vous plaît?".

Interesting to note on the latest review at Moreton in Marsh a member is moaning about being spoken to re late departure. They eventually left at 12:35. They did note in their review that outfits were being turned away before 1pm and for folk to note the strict enforcement of arrival / departure times. The message may be finally getting through. Not that we cut it that fine, but in the reviewers position I would have gone and had a word with the warden before 12, to apologise and say I had underestimated packing up but would be leaving shortly.

It’s a bit like an epidemic at the moment on the reviews…….🙄
Personally, I want information on the sites and surrounding areas, not a saga about how inept some folks are at arriving/departing, and how the staff are to blame.
Does COVID have a “can’t tell the time anymore” side effect🤔
