Early arrivals - action at last?

I’ve said several times that the story is from the member, DD, and is "as reported", or similar words. I read and related the member's tale and we're very unlikely to hear the staff/club side of the story.
The main thrust of my OP was to highlight the (reported) fact that the club is at last (apparently) dealing with the early arrival situation in a way which might achieve results.

We cannot know and the lack of confirmation is something I’ve repeatedly tried to make clear.
My interest is that the club appears to be acting, assuming the member's tale is accurate.

Does it matter? Are only facts to be posted and discussed HD?
We can take it at face value and as brought up quite a lot of support for the club?
The original post is there for everyone to read and easy to find, going on for three pages now with the OP posting back a few times. I assume it is a fact that it happened, or rather at least that it has been posted as happened, which is what TW has always said. But this thread, I think, is about if the club did the correct thing, or would do the correct thing.
I can't imagine anyone on another non club forum making it up. but as said we don't know both parts of the story, there's always more to it usually.

Well, the innocent party/miscreant who has been penalised has posted his version of events on another forum, it’s there in his own words. 🤔🙂

Precisely and it’s that tale of his I’ve been referring to with plenty of references to it being the member's unsubstantiated version.

I've seen a lot of outfits arriving almost at once just after one and it can be easily dealt with. And also it's been reported on here as well.
The wardens come out in force and look at the booking details and card and allow the outfits on site to choose a pitch. Sometimes they expect this and have a clipboard as well. It is when queuing starts before one that causes the problems.

Yep, a world away from a static queue 👍🏻

Interestingly enough on that other thread there is a reference to the problems caused at Melrose which I've certainly seen and posted pics of last May.

I won’t link it, but it’s on Caravantalk Forum.

If he came from Exeter racecourse it would have been easy enough for him to have left his pitch and parked up just ourside. There is oudles of space as well as the racecourse car park to kill half an hour. He could have also visited the cafe at the petrol station, plenty of parking there as well.

I didn’t link it as I don’t think anything other than the report of the club suspending membership is particularly relevant but it is easy enough to find if anyone wants to plough through the trivia and obvious misinformation.

Well I've just read the OP and the post referred to on the other forum. Seems to me a lack of common sense on the complainant's part. He/she say they've visited Hillhead before so must surely have been aware of the difficulty of suitable stopping places close to that site. So surely the sensible thing would have been to explain that to the Exeter staff and ask if it was possible to stay on for half an hour or so. Failing that, used PD's suggestion above.

I was thinking the same, they knew the distance and time and staying on site somewhere hitched up or not might have been possible especially if they told the site staff why, is Exeter always busy?
b. If you’d like to remain later on-site, not necessarily on your pitch, have a word with the Site Staff. Be aware that charges may apply if you stay beyond 4pm

Not saying this is what this member did but if some members are still arriving early because they want a ‘better’ pitch and the Club are tightening up on this is there anything to stop members who arrive the day before swapping pitches before 1pm? Just asking.

I can’t see why not as long as the warden gives permission.
More pertinent, perhaps, is the question of whether moving without checking with the warden would incur the sort of membership penalty we've become aware of here.🤷🏻♂️

If its not about early arrivals why is the post titled "Early arrivals - action at last?"

Because I started the thread about the membership sanctions site managers can allegedly impose on early arrivals. Had I not included the words "early arrivals" it would have made no sense and given no indication of the subject matter.
3 -
Because it's not about when you arrive early, or how close to 1pm as ED was alluding to but the sanction or action that was/can be taken if you do AND then refuse to leave as instructed, as I explained in my reply to him.

Wow indeed but referring to holiday makers as "offenders" is not really part of the leisure industry ethos is it? Or maybe it is with CAMC and maybe the early arrivals have occurred due to lack of management commitment till it suddenly becomes a problem because arrival times were changed, early arrivals were previously allowed on site and no general policy enforced. However the member concerned has now been hung up for the jeering crowd...he made a mistake and all he wanted was a holiday! (If all this is to be believed.) If only it was "simples."
Anyway happy holidays folks, Hillhead is a very big site with a good sized arrivals area and don't be afraid if you're a few minutes early after getting through the directions and traffic in busy Torbay I hope you'll get a warm welcome. Don't go down to the Dartmouth ferry, upper or lower to kill time, it's really not advised you might find yourselves heading over the river!

I have seen and read the post on the other forum and it seemed to me the poster did so without rancour. He explained the situation. He, apparently, kept his calm but stood his ground. We can only take what people post at face value. His argument was that having arrived, what was it 5/10 minutes early because he had made better progress than he was expecting having only travelled from a nearby Club site despite leaving there as late as he could. Despite there being plenty of room for him, and others. to wait until the barrier opened at 1.00pm he was asked to leave which he initially refused to do. A more senior member of staff came to speak to him and said if he did not leave he would suspend his membership. He again refuses and I assume the member of staff put into action what he said he would do. The member left the site but did not return and the Club lost an income of £449. So that is it in a nutshell.
Personally I think the whole saga, if it is accurate, is somewhat stupid. I don't believe site staff would act in such a way if they had not had instructions from HQ to do so. Is the CMC a customer friendly organisation, does it actually care whether people remain members. I am not sure whether this person intends to remain a member but who could blame him if he didn't along with all those others who having had a bad experience at this particular site have suggested they won't remain members. We will never know of course.

Evening
I think the point of your thread TW is to highlight that we as site staff are surely taking action with early arrivals. That is indeed true but with respect to use an example of a member having their membership suspended because they've turned up early and the ensuing issues it involved is a bit of a harsh example in my opinion. It needs to be said that that type of action is the absolute last result in trying to resolve any issue. Peoples reaction to the arrival time has in the main been pretty well received overall, even asking people to leave and come back hasn't been so bad in the scheme of things, obviously when we say no or apply some rule or other it doesn't go down well. There's been a few over the network this summer as the op mentions that have turned into something really unpleasant which have resulted in the customer leaving site minus a membership, but I can say whole heartedly that to take a membership away goes against what we do. I've had that unpleasant experience only twice in my 13 years as a member of staff.

Just to be accurate he arrived 15 minutes early and refused to leave then for the first time.

Precisely why I used inverted commas, Brue.
I think you make too much of this as the member in question was only the catalyst in this instance in a thread about the club seemingly at last imposing meaningful sanctions.
