I don’t think the Club is charging extra for dogs. But I do think there will be a charge at some point to use an awning, on what are now designated “awning pitches”. These are usually those capable of taking car, van, awning without being outside the stipulated fire break. I doubt there will be a charge for a MH to roll out a canopy (no sides) on a non awning pitch. Likewise, if a van uses a roll out, and parks the car elsewhere, that would be the same.
At some point or other, Club will decide to inform Membership, with all the relevant details🤷♀️

Just imagine that the club was reading this thread and concluded that we the folk on CT need a definition of what an awning is now that we have given them the idea they can start charging for them. But to make sure that they get it right because the club doesn't have a clue about touring apparently, they ask CT to use our collective wisdom to create that definition. How many months and how many posts would it take to do that and you can bet your bottom dollar that someone in the background will shout Well that's not my definition.
So a Drive away awning, when the van is out for the day does it become a tent and are tents allowed.

I’d be delighted to know which Club Sites actually have mahoosive pitches😁 In our experience, if the Club can shove another pitch in somewhere, and duly charge for it, they will.
But yes, I freely admit we do choose an awning pitch for our tiny MH. Afraid being able to watch next doors TV, or have to listen to conversations isn’t for us. But, we know the answer………..
Go somewhere else🤣

Having spent nearly two hours putting up and pegging down our awning into what I can only describe as solid rock hardstanding, I suffered aches and pains for several days. As a result I decided this autumn that it's the last time I even bother to take one with us in future. So I went through my lockers, boxes and bags removing pegs, pumps, mallets, tiles, storm straps etc. and was pleasantly surprised just how much weight and clutter I've saved. Not to mention saving money should the club start charging extra, I'm definitely a convert to the KIS (keep it simple) formula, we can now arrive on site, pitch-up and have the kettle on in less than half an hour, and I can enjoy all of my holiday with no aches and pains!

Yes as in all walks of life there comes a point when things that we quite happily did before become too much effort. And then we (or at least I) wonder why we ever did it in the first place, or even where I found the energy from.

Yes, I did see that the club were considering 'introducing a differential' between awning and non awning pitches....a bit like the grass/HS situation.
as TDA mentioned, there may be a fraction more room on awning pitches but some sites have nicer outlooks on the non awning ones...
we only have a wind out awning and have used this for shade and during the odd shower last break. We tour in the Uk only in summer, so generally make use of outside best weather....and at NY where we are usually in a town enjoying hospitality.
I couldn't justify the effort to put up a proper awning as we just don't like sitting in 'a tent'...if the weather is really that bad, we find the van more comfortable.
Our MH pals have an mid sized awning but there van has such poor storage that all their 'stuff' gets chucked in the awning (to keep it dry and safe...our 'stuff lives in the large garage) which means the awning isn't a pleasant place to be...cramped, full of junk..
even blow up ones require setting up and the usual...'well it came out of this bag'...moment when putting away...

I'd just like to point out that we have never sat in our van all day. We very rarely sat in the awning either. We use our van as a base whilst spending most of the day (sometimes two days sleeping elsewhere) to explore the local area. We sometimes travel 50-60 miles, pre-planned, to see places of interest, returning to base for a light supper and maybe a video before bed. We should celebrate the many different approaches to our pastime and respect the way others do it.
