Punctures - has anyone used Slime?

Has anyone repaired their punctured tyre with Slime? I’ve heard mixed reviews about it.

Ive got a Campervan PVC but no spare tyre and unable to carry one

    As far as I know, Slime is just to get you home or to a tyre repair place ..... it's not intended to be a permanent repair.

    Not sure of the description of slime. Lots of cars / vans come with an aerosol type of sealant which you screw onto the valve to inflate the tyre which in turn puts a liquid goo in to seal any holes. Prepare to be sworn at when the tyre fitter takes off that goo filled tyreundecided 

    Slime on the other hand is a green liquid which has flecks of rubber in it. It's put in a deflated but not punctured tyre which after installation the wheel is spun by hand to evenly distribute the slime around the inside of the tyre. It's then inflated and run as normal, the theory being any thorns etc are quickly sealed by the rubber flecks in the gooey stuff. We use slime on our site machinery tyres with great effect. When you've trimmed a thorn hedge and cleared up with the ride on mower the last thing you need is a million thorn punctures.

    That's OK if the rescue service can help you - but in the small print of the Mayday contract, it states that if you don't have a serviceable spare wheel, they will provide one at your expense.

    Not so much bothered about the expense bit but where does one get a spare tyre on a Sunday afternoon of a Bank Holiday weekend which is when - by sod's law - you're going to need itundecided

    There isn't room in the boot of my car for a spare because of the Adblue tank so I carry a full size spare on a roof-rack on my car.  Bit of an OTT solution, I accept, but at least I know I'm bullet-proof if the worst ever happens.

    I would have thought using Slime was worth doing if you genuinely can't carry a spare.

    The idea of just relying on a breakdown service for punctures when you are travelling in rural UK or Europe seems a bit hopeful to me. It could take a long time for a breakdown service to reach you, if you don't have a spare wheel there isn't much they can do apart from tow you to a garage or tyre place. Getting tyre fixed would then depend upon their opening times and availability of a suitable tyre.

    We bought a spare wheel and tyre from a scrappy and keep it in the van boot.

    I swear by OKO, its used by the military and approved by the Caravan Council

    £30 a tyre call Gary hes the UK rep based in Swindon

    Look up OKO Puncture Control on the web 

    He pumps it into your tyres and it stays there for the life of the tyres

    If you get a puncture it will instantly fill the hole

    Its water based so when you need a new tyre the fitters can just wash it away

    Stopped the damage of a blow out for me
