Sadly Saying Goodbye
Well we've had a fantastic time touring first in our old VW camper van called Chugs named because we happily stayed in the slow lane, then in Fanny Fantasia our of motorhome, just before lockdown we bought our very first caravan, a small 2 berth lightweight caravan, with nothing to do to it but hitch up and tow it to our club sites.
Our last trip away saw us return to Devon finally staying at Steamer Quay, a site we had always planned to stay on but having never just use our van battery something we avoided. Well talk about being made to feel at home and at the time we didn't realise it would be our last site, well they say your leave the best to last.
We returned home planning to return in September October time, two day later my husband suffered a seizure then another two nights later. He's banned from driving for a year, his medication makes him very anxious so we decided to sell our much long awaited perfect little van, and last Saturday someone said they would like it. Paid a deposit took away the air awning. I told all the other buyers it was sold took it off and waited thinking they would return tonight to pick it up.
Instead on Monday morning I received a phone call to say the husband wanted to bring a friend along to show him how the electric worked, they arrived discussed the outside of the van and said they didn't want it, they returned the air awning and stood there asking for their deposit back, I explained about how I had told five other buyers it was sold, how I had cancelled all the adverts. And I would hold onto the the deposit until our van had sold, tonight my husband took a call from them, we are being threatened with legal action.
So this is a very sad goodbye, we are leaving the club, but would like to wish you all happy traveling, and thank you all for your stories happy and sad

Sorry to hear your tale of woe. To release yourselves from stress I'd be inclined to check the air awning is in OK condition and hand the deposit back. You've nothing to gain from retaining it. Hope everything works out well for the future.

Brue is right. You should hand back the deposit after checking that the awning is in the same condition that you sold it.
There really are too many more important things for you to worry about at the moment and I suspect that the prospective buyer that let you down has the legal right to change his mind. Your husband's health probably wouldn't be helped by any litigation procedure.
I wish you both well though.
