Are Coachman caravans going downmarket?

That's also interesting Paul, that a Coachman owner rang to enquire about the replacement toilet. Just goes to show how many people are having problems. Same as us being on a site next to a Coachman owner with problems, what are the odds of that happening, if it isn't so widespread?
Agree with you about Coachman as a company. The fact that they reverted back to Thetford toilets from the 2020 models speaks volumes IMHO, yet they were not honest and upfront enough to admit to previous model owners there was/is a problem with the Dometic toilets. It does leave a very btter taste.

We have had nothing but trouble with the Dometic fitted to our Lunar, price for spares is through the roof. I contacted ALV, however they are not taking on any more toilet replacements in the near future. Fortunately a mobile engineer has opened a service unit in the next town, told him my tale of woe and he is replacing the toilet in March along with carrying out next years service.
I will keep you all posted how the job goes.

My 2008 Amara 500/5 is all Thetford, fridge, toilet etc, sound as a pound. I dont think it is just toilets that are a problem, a few people on this forum reported problems with Dometic fridges, and not just in Coachman
p.s. spoke to a guy couple of months back, been waiting almost 6 months for new PCB for Dometic fridge

Yes, I've also read of a few problems with Dometic fridges, and no, it isn't confined to just Coachman. The issue here though is about the Dometic brand of toilet, whether it is Coachman, Lunar or other brand.
However, this thread started off specifically about Coachman caravans, hence the responses. From what I have seen on the internet since having our problems with a Dometic toilet, those seem to be more widespread than Dometic fridges, but I don't doubt those problems exist.

We traded our 2016 545 VIP in for the 2021 model which we picked up in April last year. Faults to date:
shower door fell off on first outing
fridge alarm continued to sound when the door was closed
fridge sort fell off numerous times
leaks in the water heating hose
foam rubber doing something to alleviate noise when joints run came loose and fell off
screws fastening the mirror to the wall in the showroom came loose and one gel out while travelling
shelf edging in wall cupboards fell off
wooden lining in wardrobes came loose and split
I could go on but Coachman failed to make sure their products left the factory in the standard I expected, and of course Covid was to Blame
