Emptying etiquette

Currently on a tour of the Peak District, stunning weather beautiful CL sites.

Now since I started caravanning as a lad with my parents in the 1960s the onerous task of loo emptying has followed the sequence of he or she who is currently in the action of emptying and rinsing has exclusive access to the area until finished. A new arrival at the service point may inevitably engage in idle chat until you are through with the task. My recent experience  this turned into more of a race with the next emptier who arrived unseen and was engaging in action before I had completed my first rinse, he seemed determined to vacate the area before me. I managed just about to keep a nose ahead and took the laurels on the podium of 2. I feel that we are on the slippery slope with regard to the unwritten code of Thetiquette.

    I think it only polite to stand back and wait until the service point is completely free.  Apart from anything else, I'd not want anybody standing that close to me for COVID avoidance and protection of myself.

    Did you say anything to him/her to indicate your displeasure?  I think it would have been in order to ask said person to wait until you've finished but, whether it would have done any good with somebody who thinks this is okay is another matter.

    One site in France this year had two disposals with a shared rinse hose between them. Although they were so close you would have been elbowing the person on the other disposal. I stood back and waited and fortunately nobody tried to use the other one while I was there.

    This seems to me quite bizarre. I am struggling to think of any chemical disposal point that I have used where more than one person could comfortably gain access. If that had happened to me I would have said something I am sure. 

    On a slightly different aspect of loo emptying, I do recall one occasion, years ago, where a couple of young boys were fascinated by watching people emptying their loos. I would have told them to hop it. I've never seen it more than this once; it just didn't seem right.

    I posted before about a German girl who did their dish washing in a chemical emptying point on Folkstone race course site when it was opensurprised

    It’s a disgrace. There should be a warden at every emptying and filling point.
