And I suspect most would vote with their feet and say no so we would be no further forward!!!!   I will accept that it is often difficult to read the Club and how they make decisions. For many years they denied there was a problem with the current system and actually promoted the book as much as you want and cancel when you want philosophy. However in the last few years there seems to be even greater demand of pitches and people started to book speculatively. This started to raise concerns from members that there was no availability and whilst it wasn't a majority of members there were enough to get the Club thinking. They also had the evidence of how many pitches were cancelled close to site arrival day. So in true Club fashion they did their silent listening as I call it and formulated a policy based on how they could solve the problem and member feedback.

The problem with yours, and other suggestions on alternatives is that they are not that simple to put into place. As TW suggests it would disadvantage those who want to book a tour of more than three sites. I am perfectly happy with the current system but I am not going to lose sleep over having to pay a deposit.

Perhaps they should merge and then they would be also able to reduce their office overheads.

It does seem that both Clubs seem to be converging on how they do things? Same arrival time, deposits, being able to book pitch surfacewink

The most annoying part of this whole new booking system is the fact that the Spring Bank Holiday week was split. I've a booking up to 31 May 2023 but the need the other half of the week.  Just shows how short sited the management is.

And this website is so slow today.  I have 300mb broadband and using a top of the range work laptop and I get fed up of seeing the donut go round and round.  I'm afraid this just doesn't bode well for the future.

+1, it’s so annoying😤. It’s part of the package, a package that is becoming less & less attractive☹️

I am puzzled that they cannot simply release the dates🤷‍♀️This is what they were doing when the previous launch date, the first one was mentioned. You could book without a deposit, until the deposit scheme went live. After that date, you had to pay a deposit. Amend your booking after that date and it became a booking made under the new system🤷‍♀️

Unless it’s something to do with the transition period that has been highlighted as a problem. 🤔 Who knows🤷‍♀️ Might be easier to get over school holiday peak period anyway, a busy enough time for Site Staff as it is without a new system.

I am sure many of us have booked sites further in advance than we normally would in order to avoid paying a deposit? We have, although in fairness only for this year.

Perhaps the Club have made a decision that they don't want deposit free bookings stretching well into 2023 as we could end up with the situation whereby the new system is not fully implemented until 2024? I am perhaps a bit surprised why they allowed bookings beyond January 2023. Perhaps they have been overtaken by events because as it stands the introduction of the new booking system is fast approaching six months overdue? I wonder if we will ever get an explanation for the delay, perhaps a question for the AGM?

As I said earlier or in another thread I would like to book my June and July trips now. I'm flexible about dates but others, especially in August might not be and rather than run the risk, however small, or not getting their dates will book with another provider.

I wonder when the date comes round what the procedures will be? I recall the old booking day ones, log in sometime before, then get put in a queue, then only a set time/sites. Of course having to pay a deposit may mean all that isn't needed, or not...

Didn't JK say that flaws in the new booking system were exposed by site managers and EGH during training?

Yes he did PD. Maybe one of those issues is the transition period.

Its not affecting us. Hard luck on those who might have an event/occasion they wanted to spend on a Club Site. It will all get sorted eventually I am sure.

As regards the 2022 AGM, it’s to be similar to last year, where Members can either attend in person, or watch via a link. No doubt Members will be able to submit questions again to the meeting.

Changes in the last day or so to the Clumber site page could tie in with that. Although it says in the main text closed for refurbishment, planned opening 1st September, in the side panel it gives an opening date of the 9th August and prices are now shown from this date. The availability remains closed to booking but perhaps that will change on the 8th.🤔

    edit

Just looked again and this morning you can book most pitch types from the 9th. So perhaps just coincidence it ties in with the above date. Still says planned opening September though.😂
