Hi All

How is this for bad service from Swift renewed my CMHC and my C&C membership before caravan season started and managed a weekend away at Easter on parking up at home and locking the van door in my five year old Sterling Eccles the barrel came out the lock with the key

I thought I'd look online to find out what to do about this only to find it was an known problem with the Swift locks with many unhappy punters suffering the same fate, their advice was to purchase a new barrel online and fit it myself it was quite straight forward just place the key in the barrel and insert into the lock and it will lock itself into the lock

I thought to myself job done however when I tried to buy a new barrel every site I visited had all their barrels out of stock then I thought I would try my local dealer only to be told that the machine which was used to supply Swift with their locks had broken down and had created a backlog of barrel orders  I thought okay I can wait a couple of weeks for the new barrel to arrive only to be told to my horror that it was an approximate at the earliest Six month delivery date

I then contacted Swift to complain about this excessive delivery time only to have Swift tell me that it understood my frustration and that it was not a warranty part so they did not keep any in stock and I would have to take it up with the dealer so as a result my van is left sitting Idle for the whole of the Season and I have paid for two memberships that I cannot use

Poor Show from a company as big as Swift that puts all their eggs in one basket by having only one supplier of their locks  that when the suppliers machine breaks down we Caravaners are left high and dry and out of pocket

I agree it sounds like the usual industry standard for things once they've sold the product. But they are getting away with it. No help to you but I share your frustration I'm having similar issues with a new dishwasher. Won't bore you with details.

Could a locksmith help? After moving house I've learned we have a specialist motor vehicle one in our area, camridgeshire not Essex,  i cant change details as this website plays up 🤣. Never knew such a thing existed. Got to be worth a try. We had a locksmith change our locks for a very reasonable fee.

I do hope you can get it sorted somehow and enjoy our hobby.

A fair number of people fir supplementary locks as additional security. Perhaps that route will salvage some of your touring season.
