Weighbridges

Wouldn't it be great if we could easily find a weighbridge near to home?

I am sure Club members are the responsible types who try keep an eye on the weight of their caravans/motorhomes.

It would be easier if we had access to a list of weighbridges open to the public.

I am a little surprised that although the club regularly reminds us to 'watch our weight ' they do not appear to have done much to help us find a weighbridge.

If I am wrong please let me know. Any information regarding weighbridges would be appreciated.  I live in Stamford,  Lincs.

I think you will find that all Quarry's usually have a weigh bridge.

    Google!

Our local landfill site operator's weigh bridge is open for public use free of charge.

Plan B. Local caravan /motorhome dealers  may well have a portable Reich weight control plate that customers can use. These may be the ones which are used if you are stopped for a roadside check.

Ditto here in Southport, but I only found out a couple of weeks ago, by e-mailing Sefton Council's web site and asking for the whereabouts of the nearest one.  I have made numerous trips to our local tip over the years and have never seen a weighbridge there, so was suprised to find out that they had one which was available to the public.  Apparently it is free if you just want to see how much your vehicle weighs, but there is a charge if you want written confirmation.

Thanks for the link, but I can't get it to download on my Kindle.

I think I've found one at a local scrap merchant's.

According to the website of Surrey County Council, there are no SCC owned/operated weighbridges in the whole County.  frown

We used a local grain company weighbridge near us.  They were very helpful and we weighed car and caravan, and just caravan. We paid a nominal sum £5/£10 from memory but would be more if we wanted a printed sheet.

Would you be prepared to drive to Bletchley in Milton Keynes? If so J E Goodman  in Tavistock Street, 01908 373187 might be able to help you.
