Good news or simply a mistake?

I drove past our local BP garage earlier today and diesel has actually  gone down in price by 2p from 199 a litre to 197 a litre, which I was very surprised at. Have other areas put their prices down?

Several site in this area did not reduce their prices when the reduction in duty was implemented by the chancellor, was your BP station one of those and have suffered from lack of business since?

I too wondered if it was a mistake when our local Tesco's diesel price dropped from 199.9 on Wednesday to 196.9 yesterday.

Don't know as I rarely use it myself and don't drive past it very often.

Southport has always had higher prices than in Liverpool, Blackpool and Preston areas.  I am going to Yorkshire, Durham then Cumbria next week on a 2 week tour, so any information on what the fuel prices are in those areas will be very useful!

Surely if you are going on a two week tour then the local fuel prices are relatively irrelevant?

You will buy fuel regardless except for local competition and I guess it would be difficult to navigate to those sites specifically..

I am currently on a 5 week tour and buy fuel  'as and when needed'. Avoiding M/way service stations at all costs.

We filled up in Tesco in Catterick the other day at 191.9 (diesel). Cheapest I've seen it. There is a Total Energies (Morrisons) in the area just up the Richmond road that also has the same pice (or had). Things change so quickly.

We tend to do the same as Redface. Can't drive around looking for a penny saving here or there. Have to say though that the Tesco price was going to be paid regardless and we were pleasantly surprised when we got there. Not totally over the moon just pleasantly.

Apparently the wholesale price has reduced over the last few days but not by a lot. What has surprized me is that the supermarkets seemed to  have stopped discounting fuel despite other retailers often a penny cheaper? One economic theory is that as interests rates increase it will push the price of fuel down even further because of the pressure of recession. Some commentators even think it is a policy to try and bankrupt Russia!

I tried to brim my car the other day at a supermarket. No kiosk to pay at, so put the £99 max pay at pump & then tried another transaction to fill the tank. It wouldn't let me, something along the lines having had my daily max. So why can I spend £200 in the store & then £99 in the fuel station but I can't do two transactions at the pump?

Anyway .... had to drive away with 'just' 3/4 of a tank 🙄

I use Petrol Prices app, you can search local area, or search by postcode etc. I also use Stations Carburant for France, works just the same. At the moment Auchan Calais Diesel is €1.963

I have noticed that many CT members, me included,  tend to keep well clear of the Motorway service area fuel pumps. It would be good { to scare me silly surprised}  if somebody could tell us just what price fuel is these days, please.

Came up the M5/M4 today and prices were £2.10 on the motorway services. Filled up at a Tesco in MK £1.97 a litre which was 3p cheaper than Ivybridge about a week ago.
