Motorhomes, as they don’t normally have a car, can generally utilise wind out canopies but might not be able to fully extend them.

Caravans have a tow car with them and are not permitted to use any form of awning due to spacing requirements.

However, if in doubt, check with the warden as pitch sizes and spaces between them vary and it is the gap that matters. Personally, I would book an awning pitch if I intended to attach anything which would add to the width of the caravan.

Depends how brave you are ;-)

Sun canopy ? Wind out awning from a motor home would b the same as a caravan rollout canopy in my book. A stand alone canopy, can take off like kite in some winds.

Try and see, although asking a warden would be wiser.

Wardens have the discretion to turn a blind eye, where sensible infringement of  rules could be used.

I think there is no problem using a wind out canopy but it can't be left out overnight. As mentioned always best to speak to site staff so they can advise.

    Rule 6c

    6. Using awnings or tents

    c. On non-awning pitches, wind out canopies may be used as long as the fire spacing gap is maintained.  All canopies must be sufficiently secured or wound back in at night, when off site or as requested by Site Staff.  Please also refer to rule 5c.

I know of two sites in the east of the country where some pitches are less than a foot below the min fire break, and the site do use their common sense on those pitches,  with canopies
