Possible traffic disruption July 4th
Just a heads up that protests are planned for the SW on July 4th which could include the M5 and other routes. If you are travelling check for updates.

It's not those uppity colonials from across the pond again is it?

No. Idiots protesting about the rising cost of fuel. They care so much that they will increase their own, and everyone else's mpg, by going slow on motorways and A roads!
According to my information the protests will be around the Thelwell Viaduct, Croft Interchange, A55 in North Wales, Charnock Richard services and around the M60 and M62 in Greater Manchester.
Just a heads up as who knows if anything will actually happen.

Thanks for the reminder. A change of plan for us as we had intended going to Bangor on Monday, so will head that way tomorrow instead. A day early will make very little difference to what we had planned.

It’s happening around here. M18/M180 affected, and apparently just to add to the fun, West Yorkshire Police decided a “stinger” might be useful around Ferrybridge. Like that would get traffic moving quicker🤣Duh!
So it’s the scenic route for us today, no hardship there.

If you want to protest then surely the idea is to inconvenience the folk responsible, not your kindred spirit who is also effected by the rising costs.

People protest for lots of different reasons, injustice, being marginalised, emotional reasons, economic reasons etc…… sometimes it’s the only way they think their fears and concerns can be highlighted, particularly if those implementing the hardship either don’t care, don’t understand, or are in fact corrupt….. For some, peaceful none violent protest might seem like all they have left.

Hope they've gone by Wednesday as I have to drive to Llangollen from Burnley.
