New rule that must be obeyed

Was informed today a new site rule (although not yet on site rules) that must be obeyed, you now MUST reverse your outfit onto the pitch.

Anybody else heard this gem from our club ?

Its an interesting one for folk with continental vans.

Was told it was requested by members.

Moderator Edit:

Now that we've had confirmation that this is fake news, I've locked the thread.  Perhaps the OP might like to show the response from the Community Manager to the Site Manager of whatever site they are currently on.

    Me too, Dave.

Scot, I have to ask who told you this as it's contrary to the pitching instructions given to every arriving camper.

Was a site warden who said they have been "informed" to apply.

Prefer not to name site, it's not the wardens as we all know they do a great job and are always friendly and helpful

It seems it's to do with doors not facing doors and I was informed it was requested by the membership.

Noticed all continental vans on the site are parked nose in.

Have to say a motorhomer it will limit options to get level on some pitches, there is only so much you can do with a pair of ramps.

I see that you are based in Ayrshire...........perhaps it is a rule just for Scotland and introduced by the snp/greens so that Scotland is different from the rest of the UK.!!!!cool

It’s a shame you feel unable to tell us which site, Scot, for two reasons. Firstly, it deprives us of the chance to check the arrangements for that particular site in order to verify the accuracy of the warden's words (not yours but his) and, secondly, prevents any of us who are unhappy with that arrangement from either objecting to head office and/or boycotting the site.

Incidentally, our van has a hab door each side. What's the ruling on that?

I have reported this thread to Rowena in the hope she can throw some light on the situation which is clearly way out of step with the normal arrangements.

Ah mate, politics and religion, leave it to the grown ups.

Based Ayrshire currently on one of the biggest sites in Yorkshire.

I can see this one running for a bit……….🤣

The bit that had me chuckling was “the membership requested it”

If it’s Yorkshire, it’s bound to be a wind up. Tha’ nus!

Sorry but there are some points that don't add up for me. You posted:

you now MUST reverse your outfit onto the pitch.

Noticed all continental vans on the site are parked nose in

Which is it? Are you saying wardens are asking to reverse in or nose in depending on which side the door is on?

What is happening to all the folks who exit from the rear, that’s what I want to know. Are they allowed to gaze across the road to Members opposite, or are they confined to leaping out into the adjacent rear hedge/fence to ensure privacy is maintained?

I wonder if this was a warden having a joke rather than "a gem from our club"?

Whatever, it's brightened up a Sunday evening 😄

I can't see a warden doing a wind up on something like that somehow and if it is I will not be best pleased having turned my outfit to get a decent level then been asked to turn it back.

I look forward to clarification from those who must be obeyed.

"Was told it was requested by members."

I can't just think of any members of CT who would object to facing doors and request this, no matter how much I rack my brain!  laughinglaughing

Did you not query this with the warden at the time, Scot? The site rules and the handouts given to arrivals clearly state units can be pitched either way round. I would have wanted to know, at the very least, what was special about that site.

I assume it was a club owned/operated site rather than an AS?

Once I turned van I went back to question it with the warden as I was not happy with how it was explained that " not yet on site rules" but "we have been informed to explain this"  I asked why this change had come about and was told after Covid it had been at the request of the membership.

    If it's " a wind up" it ain't mine......I'm sure I could think of a better one !😁

    I'm so confused.

So were you given a site leaflet that all new arrivals are given and did it have the 'old' pitching instructions?

And you were only told of these new rules when you had pitched, not on booking in?

I'm not sure why you don't mention the site, if the wardens were/are simply following instructions from above there is no reason not to mention the site and somehow protect them. The club will back them up?

I'm not sure what covid has to do with it, the 'old' rules were in place at the height of it.

Was a club operated/owned site and not as TW asks an AS, just mention the site.

Maybe just a misunderstanding or maybe could only can set up in a given way on that pitch to meet firebreaks. Maybe pitch or site specific like non awnings at Bunree on front line. It matters not a jot if continental or uk builds there, everyone pitches picture window out to loch!

Would that be Cayton Village by any chance?

In recent years members have been able to reverse in or park in nose first providing they maintain the required space between units. If its about maintaining privacy that could explain why units with doors on the continental side are nose in? Personally I would prefer that some did not pitch their unit with the door facing me. Whilst some Club sites are very spacious many and not and you soon realise how close the minimum Club spacing standards are!

That is precisely why I do not now go to club sites but tend to go to Cls.

Sites where the owners greet you like a long lost friend (although you have never been there before.)

Other members on site talk to you and are ever ready to help and give advice and no one complains if you pitch up nose in, backside in or, space permitting, lengthwise.

    Long live Cls!

Someone’s having a laugh. There are endless threads denouncing the rules the C&MC have presently so I doubt they’d impose yet another one🤷🏻‍♂️. Add to that most things are discussed to death on CT. . .This ‘reverse in only’ is really dumb🙁

I agree, Rocky, but in the absence of hard fact regarding the site we're not likely to find out just who is having a laugh.🤷‍♂️
