Another Council (Highland) is to pilot a scheme to allow overnight parking for motorhomes.

The entrance (no barrier) to the Dunnet Bay club site is via the Seadrift car park which is one designated for overnight parking in this scheme. The MHSP is directly accessible from the site entrance. I hope there aren’t any issues.

The question springs to mind of why spend £30-ish on a night on the CAMC site when the car park with same views and public toilets is available for £10? 🤷🏻‍♂️

It’s good to see, a long term investment for sure. Forward thinking👍🏻

As far as I know it hadn't, Rocky. There were one or two 'camping places' we came across such as Mellon Udrigle but I don’t know if they were privately or LA owned. The use of car parks for overnighting was taboo.

The Dunnet Head car park has long been used for overnight stops by Motor Caravanners, and looking at the units that were there when we've visited they were not there for just one night only. I suspect that problems may arise because of the out of the way nature of a few and the policing of them.

We took part in a survey for D&G while we were away. Nice council member of staff visiting car parks, and asking for feedback from MH owners, with a view to using more council owned ones for overnight stays. They were of course getting feedback from locals and local businesses as well, but it did come across as very pro active, and something that the council wanted to do, not least to try and regulate a little of what is going on. We saw some really good places, used a few. But we also saw some selfish and dishonest behaviour as well, which spoils things for everyone. Scotland seems way ahead of other home nations.
