Not my idea of a solution
Talking to a guy recently we got onto the poor reliability of Dometic toilets and fridges as I have had several problems with each. He was telling me that, like me, he had experienced a problem with the seal between the pan and the cassette of the toilet. Rather than look online or go to a caravan dealer for a new seal he went back to the caravan manufacturer who said they could get one in about 8 weeks! They could offer him a slightly quicker option if he bought a new cassette. This would be six weeks but it was the option that he chose (more money than sense?). However, and this is the bit not to read if you are having a meal, he decided that as he wanted to use the caravan before he got the new cassette, he would come up with an alternative solution. This was to put a bucket in place of the cassette with a piece of wood stuck to the side of the bucket to activate the micro switch to allow the toilet to flush. This might be an OK arrangement in a dire emergency but this guy decided that it was far easier to empty a bucket than it was to empty the cassette. So much so that at the time of us speaking he had both a brand new cassette and a brand new seal in his garage at home whilst he was away on his holidays. There is obviously no seal between the bucket and the pan so the smell in the caravan would probably be unbearable to the majority of us, especially as the weather warms up. Uugh !!!

Whatever floats your boat. That would stink to high heaven so I pity anybody pitched close by. Not sure it's particularly hygienic either. Wonder what the site staff think.

The easiest solution to the Dometic toilet seal problem is to apply plumber's grease to the seal. It has worked for me over the past few years and is very cheap!

Two months ago I removed the troublesome Dometic toilet, electronic push button packed in, tried to repair it which worked, however, in trying to insert the PCB back into place I inadvertantly cracked the PCB causing a dry joint. the seal needed replacing, the vent needed a new O ring. When I was told the price of a new PCB I gave up and purchased a Thetford, had it installed in under two hours and have just returned from a fortnight away and all is well.

Silicone grease for the seal and spray for the blade mechanism. I’ve lived with the Thetford & Dometic cassettes, the former is far superior imo.

I have posted on here before, about our experience of that useless Dometic toilet. I was so sick and tired of it that after 5 months of ownership of what was an otherwise near-perfect van, that I got the dealer to change it for a Thetford. It wasn't a cheap solution and couldn't be done under warranty.
Problems included:
Blade not sealing and allowing fluids to leak into both the van and the cassette compartment.
Blade stiff in operation - despite copious amounts of silicone grease and spray being applied at regular intervals
Pathetic flush
Wheels on cassette being of no practical use whatsoever on anything other than hard tarmac due to their small diameter.
Flimsy hard plastic used for cassette which was an accident waiting to happen. (There is a You Tube video showing how to repair cracks in cassette - which speaks volumes about how flimsy it is)
Cassette handle jammed in open position and would not retract, resulting in it having to be removed to allow re-installation of cassette in compartment. It's unnecessarily complicated in its construction and far too flimsy.
The fact that it was impossible to empty the cassette and press in the anti-splash valve at the same time without having three hands!
No measuring cap for toilet fluid.
And the final straw - the flush mechanism packed up altogether - needless to say whilst we were on a CL with no toilet facilities.
The Thetford has now been in for two and half years - and - 'touch wood' - we haven't had a single problem with it.
