Caravans Bought adverts

Month after month I see in the back of the Club magazine a bewildering array of prominent ads all offering "best Prices" for used caravans, "in any condition".

I have a presentable 2013 Lunar Clubman SB in good condition and now that my wife and I are in our mid-late 70s with one or two health issues, we are mulling over whether to sell up and end our caravanning days.

Does anyone have any feedback or experience of these sites, as I am somewhat dubious. I have contacted the club and the magazine for some feedback, but without success. I know I can put a classified ad in the Club magazine, but  am looking at speedier, simple solutions, should we decided to go ahead.

Thankyou,

David Brooks

I’ve no personal experience but know of others who've used these companies. You may get a little less than selling privately but it’s simple, hassle free and no come back on you at all. You get cash or bank transfer instantly and they come to you. In your situation, I would certainly ring a few of them.

I'd be inclined to place an advert in Auto Trader. When we bought our present caravan, the dealer wasn't interested in a part exchange .... to fair to him, he was a motorhome dealer ... we sold our old caravan in less a week. Obviously you need to have your wits about you with a private sale. A good caravan will sell itself.  👍

We have just changed our 'van.  We were offered £5.5 by one of these buyers.  One of the local dealers said the book price for buying in, not P/Ex was £6.6.  As luck would have it, we sold it simply by word of mouth, for a little more than that, deciding a very quick sale and no hassle of advertising etc. resulted in us having the two vans on our drive (they are both 2 berth, under 4 metres - no grand estate!!) for only one night.  But I would get a price from a buying firm to use this as absolute bottom whack and then use autotrader / gumtree or similar.

I sold our 2005 Lunar Lexon last year on EBay.  I contacted all the local dealers and felt it was worth a little more than they were offering so decided to give EBay a go.  Within 2 hours of it being listed i had had over 200 views and I sold it the same day for just short of twice the price that the dealers had offered.  Secondhand caravans are in high demand so make sure you get a fair price.

Last week I passed a couple of independent motorhome sales places and their forecourts were crammed. A few months back we were being told that stock was in very short supply. Have the newbie "Costa crew" sold already and headed for the airport?

we are looking for a 2 berth rear washroom, and called into a dealers near a town we had to visit and they only had 4 secondhand vans for sale and three were twin axle long beasts, no new ones on show as the showroom was full of vans being serviced.
