Ha, I have actually! Not for consumption just out of interest. Lots of stuff with 4 or 5 days left, thrown out daily. People moan about site fees but happy to chuck money in the bin

I was replying to micky's post above regarding discarded in date food in the bins. It's been a challenging day on site

Our hourly rate's not great but it covers a fresh loaf and a block of cheese micky!!. Lots of those urban myths bandied about including having to run a site shop to top up that meagre wage.
True though I've recycled £400 avtex tv's, cadac bbq's and other expensive items all in good working order in my time. Sell them on for donations to the air ambulance charity

JollyKernow, I agree with you 100%, my previous reply was highlighting R. post. A dustbin or 2 by the bins would really be the answer.
Peedee, there are many types of disabilities. I wont go into the whys and the wherefores , however to enable us to carry on caravanning we improvise and compromise.

Probably not strictly on topic but food dates have been mentioned. Back in the day we had “sell by” for perishable foods and “ best before” for food with a longer shelf life. Then some bright spark at either DHSS or DEFRA, I can’t remember which moniker was in use at the time, decided that “ use by” should replace “ sell by”
Food retailers are allowed to sell perishable food up to the use by date and a lot of people mistakenly think they have to use the food by that date, they don’t it’s just a substitute for sell by.
Whether this explains why perfectly good food is chucked out I know not

Afternoon
We have BBE or "best before end" dates, that is the quality guidance, meaning food quality may be affected after that date but still safe to eat, used mainly on dried, tinned and jarred goods etc. Use By, means just that, it's about food not being safe to consume after that date, mainly perishable goods ie meat, veg. etc.. 2 very different things. I worked in the food industry for 35 years, the last year in quality control in a jam factory.

I just work on the basis of "if it's furry and moves by itself".
Perhaps we just need a 'poisonous after' notice.
