Veteran membership

The other club gives vetran membership discount after 25 years.  Does the Caravan and Motorhome Club offer anything similar?  Like everyone else I am finding all the price increases difficult.  Now my husband died there is only one pension coming in but I still have to put the central heating on the same.  I have been going to rallies but there is no concession to being solo.  My last rally was £35 for the weekend, although it did include a chilli supper which was lovely.

I’m afraid there is no age related discount either for membership fees or for site use with this club.

To put it in perspective, the veteran membership of C&CC costs £24 p/a as opposed to the cost of £56 p/a with CAMC and, in terms of vanning, £32 is but a spot in the ocean.

C&CC site fees with age related discount tend to work out around the same as full price fees with CAMC very often. However, as a solo camper, will only pay for one adult plus the pitch fee on CAMC sites and you might even benefit from mid-week discount which gives 50% off the pitch fee.

By and large, with a bit of planning, it’s possible to camp with this club for around the same annual cost as C&CC.

PS. I’ve just remembered this club awarded free membership status to those with 50 years continuous membership. I’m not certain if that’s still the current situation though.

Collingham. I'm of a different view and I'm coming to the conclusion that the C&CC discounting does offer a reduction in site costs, have you looked at their offers? Much depends how flexible you can be on dates, place and pitch types.

Admittedly, I wasn’t taking into account the latest price hike with this club, Brue.

What I was trying to say is that the other club have reduced membership fees after 25 years membership.  I have been a member of the Caravan Club for 40 years.  It would be nice if they could offer discounted membership for loyalty.

Sadly, loyalty to this club will likely reward you with nothing more than a plastic window sticker, Collingham, but see my post above re 50 years of membership.

Collingham, it might be worth having a look at some of the Small private sites listed at the top of the UK Touring section. My OH was offered a solo traveller discount on one or two when I was coming home without him caring for my Dad. If you are in a small outfit, some of these Sites do cheaper rates for the likes of tents and camper vans.

Also our experience. Two very close together, booked sequentially,  Poolewe (C&CC) £20.50, Kinlochewe (CAMC) £25.40 before supplement, now £26.70.
