New Site Booking System

i used to check the camc late availability page for existing bookings near the arrival date because it gave an indication of pitchs still available and helped with planning arrival times e.g. try to be first there or take it easy because lots of pitches still vacant. However this information is no longer available which is a backwards step.

The present system is unique in that deposits are not made, this is attractive to some members who appreciate flexible options, we have never made speculative bookings but have appreciated being able to make amendments and even change our minds destination wise.
When deposits are required we will use more alternative sites, however whether it will improve weekend availability I very much doubt it.
The admin costs of making refunds and the conflict that may result with members could have a significant negative financial impact in addition to the loss of income from members using alternative competitors sites.
I do though think the cancellation policy was too short and should have been at least 3 weeks as this was likely to be abused.
Only time will tell,

I noticed that Cirencester has Multi Surface pitches bookable from the 19th April. I assume they have been developed within the large grass area at the top of the site, however nothing is shown on the site plan. Although given the current state of the website, perhaps it’s a gremlin as a result of the new booking system development.

From conversations I have had when? the new booking system is in operation. ,those who are expecting to be able to book hardstand pitches into next year, could well be disappointed ,,as many bookings have been ,made already with the present booking system,,up to Feb could be up to April next year,
Which it seems is to take priority over the new system with, hardstands given as first choice to those booking with the present system

Afternoon
I think that's been covered on this thread already JVB

I don’t need to read, I remember it well.

I've been looking at availability on a few popular multi surface sites in Devon and Cornwall for May onwards in previous years I would have seen a number of dates fully booked but now there there seems to be full availability, it may be to early to draw conclusions but are people holding off booking now they know there's less chance of no hardstandings being available due to them already being issued to early bookers.

In a way I would have thought that more people would be booking before the new system comes into place to avoid paying a deposit? If you are correct with your theory then I suppose it rather backs up the decision to allow booking of specific pitch surface.

I suspect the price of fuel is a major factor and people may wait and see how things pan out.
There are LVs arriving in the area but it's early in the season yet. Easter may tell us more.

My conclusion was that people think they have missed the boat on procuring a hardstanding so have not booked, as soon as the club announced they were going to transfer all early bookings to hardstandings I booked my sites for the year although under the present system I was happy to book a standard pitch and choose pitch type on arrival with the new system on some of my regular sites knowing for certain I will not have a chance of a hardstanding will greatly influence my booking I suspect this will have more of an influence than the deposit.

Regarding transfer of bookings to hardstandings what happens if you want grass? Wer'e booked in for Steamer Quay this year, there is a hardstanding tarmac area at the site entrance which to my mind is unpleasant and I don't want to be transferred!!
I'm also reviving this thread because it was the second of two threads posted by DK in Oct and Nov last year.
How long before we start deposits and is this increasing pitch bookings in the meantime to avoid deposits, thus causing bookings which will get cancelled!!!!?
Is there any info out there when the new system might start?

Everything is as clear as mud as usual brue🤣 We live in hope though.

Brue, if I recall correctly I think it was explained that anyone specifically wanting a grass pitch rather than being transferred to HS should ring the site and request grass. It might have been JK posting or might have been in the FAQs where I read it.

We've just come back from a two week, four site stay and very much enjoyed the ease of leaving sites early, arriving at other sites early and changing destination. Apart from one refund, all completed very easily online. We will have contributed at least two cancellations even though we had no reduction in the overall time on site.
It was interesting to note that there is a lack of knowledge regarding the implementation of deposits both with Members and Wardens ...

See below a copy from the FAQs
Existing bookings will be prioritised for pitch type allocation before any new bookings can be made. The new booking system will only go live when the pitch type allocation process for existing bookings has been completed. From that point onwards, if you wish, you will be able to amend your existing booking(s) to an alternative pitch type to what has been allocated; and new bookings will also be able to be made (all subject to the availability of the remaining pitches and pitch types per campsite).0 -
Thanks Arch for the details which I missed when checking today (I had been reading other similar comments on this thread.) I recall that all bookings will be migrated to hardstandings where these exist. On the particular site I mentioned I suspect there might be a rush to amend to grass if the pitch migration is fixed to one type (which in most cases is probably ok.)

I am currently on the Brighton site for 5 nights. I have been trying to get on this site for this weekend, marathon weekend, for about 6 months. Each time I looked there was no availability. About 4 weeks ago a random check turned up a vacant pitch that I booked immediately. A check a week later showed no availability. It is now Saturday and nearly 5 pm and it is very disappointing to see numerous pitches vacant. The sooner non-refundable deposits are brought in the better

I can’t plough through 184 pages to check but weren't we advised that the new system was starting in April - that is, now?🤷🏻♂️🤔

I queried this on another thread as to when the new booking system would be introduced, I'm glad to see that a few others on this very thread thought it was going to be April as I did. Now the website shows 'sometime in 2022'. At this rate it's going going to be in till May at the earliest, which I doubt by the 'sometime' ?
Even then the deposits won't be non-refundable if you cancel before 21 days (I think)
post edit yes:
We know plans sometimes do have to change, so if you cancel or amend your booking at least 21 days before arrival, your deposit will be fully refunded.
When will deposits be introduced?
Deposits will only apply from when the new UK booking experience is launched (sometime in 2022) and will only affect new bookings made after the launch. Up to then continue to make bookings on the existing system (which do not include deposit payments)I'm (was) sure it said April?

Interesting ... of the total 177 pitches, the website states less than 5 pitches available ... ? It would be good to get real time confirmation that the difference between this number and your "numerous" number is down purely to no shows ...

A long shot be could be MH pitches and they're still out for the day? Not exactly all MHs leave a marker of some kind?
