Help with MIFI please!!
Please can anyone give me some advice regarding the Portable Mobile Wifi Hotspot Devices (Huawei E5577).
Looking to purchase the Huawei E5577 for my motorhome. However, need to ask the following questions of the more experienced Motorhome/Caravan owners.
- Do they work sufficiently enough without having to purchase and erect a External Antenna at campsites?
- Advice on best network, SIM and whether PAYG or Contract for say 'wild camping'?
Would welcome any advice on the above.
Kind Regards
Chris

I guess whether or not you need an aerial will depend on the strength of the mobi signal at your location.
It depends if you want to use it in the UK or Europe but one of the best deals very popular with vanners is the 3 Network Internet on Legs. It’s 24gb and won’t time expire for 24 months from first use. It’s often on offer from Amazon and tends to be cheaper to buy another than to top it up once expired.
I was going to take the same route as you but in the end stuck with my mobile package and tether my Pad to my phone which works fine for me.

I have a MiFi but abandoned using it in favour of using the hot spot and data allowance on my phone when roaming became free. If you are planning to cross the water and with the reintrodiction of roaming charges it may well be worth it otherwise I wouldn't bother.

I have used a Huawei for years. In places with a minimum signal it worked far better up in a roof light than down behind a seat. Not yet been at a location where it didn't work well up in rooflight, but I have made provision to stick it in a box on top of a mast if need be. All on the Three network.
