Towing at 70
As my husband is nearing seventy and needs to renew his driving license, I just wanted to check with anybody whose at this point is it just the BE box (back of license) he needs?

You probably meant to post on the forum where you’d likely get more replies but check out the club's info here. B+E is all most people have unless they intend driving and towing overweight units.

The renewal at 70 + is quite a painless task at :-

The photo is even renewed by DVLA link to your passport photo. Not sure if it is because I have reached the next 'milestone' but had to opt out of renewing the C & D categories unless I did a manual application with Doctors certificate...

When towing a caravan, reaching the age of 70 and renewal thereafter is not an issue as you are unlikely to be driving a vehicle over 3500kgs and I know of no ordinary caravan that weighs that much! The only real change is that the licence has to be renewed every three years, but it is free! Reaching the age of 70 has a greater impact on owners of motorhomes, especially if they weigh over 3500kgs. In this instance there are more hoops to go through but not impossible.
