Gazebo as awning
Hello!
Looking round the Awnings that are available for my set-up (Peugeot Berlingo) i am finding them very small, when i am trying to create a living area. I would like to use a gazebo or specifically the one found HERE. I understand the rules awnings must be 3M from other awnings etc, but i would like to know and the core of my post really;
What is the etiquette of using a gazebo as an awning?
When I go to a campsite, can I announce it as an awning, or must I announce it as a tent (which it almost is. But i would argue my footprint is still smaller than a motorhome with a full size awning)

Morning
Gazebos are fine if they're in place of an awning. The one you're looking at (3 meters) is about as big as you'll get on a pitch on a club site. Nice bit of kit, bit pricey though? Nothing in Decathlon comes cheap!!
Don't forget to book a standard pitch with awning, then keep the gazebo as close to your van as possible (replicating an awning).
Have fun choosing

Looks big enough to put your camper inside it.

We had an old VW camper on site once with a leaky roof. Spent all his holiday parked under the gazebo. Family had to sit outside.

Nice idea. I know some owners of the low height Eriba we own have tried the Decathlon Air Basecamp thing here:-
They throw the zip door over the roof of the vehicle or if on a large pitch use the zip door as a sun shade roof between the van and tent spaced away from the van.

I think I would be concerned about how well it would stand up to strong wind. It has only four fixing points unlike an awning that has fixings all the way around.
