    Sorry, late to this one (story of my life)... as far as I recall a "highway" includes both the carriageway and any footway at the side of the carriageway, so any restrictions on cables crossing a highway include the footway (pavement).

    Outside of London it’s not specifically illegal.

    There's guidance in the new amendments of the highway code. Along the lines of no trip hazard and relevant signage. Check the link on t the adjacent new laws thread.

    Our LA is already working on making parking on any footpath illegal by the end of this year

    Nice in theory ....  but if all the cars in our street parked wholly on the road, it would make it almost impossible to drive a large Sprinter type van or smaller delivery waggon in between. Some people though do take the proverbial though by making it difficult to even walk passed them let alone push a pram or similar passed.

    Our LA/County have put double yellow lines round most junctions especially on bus routes, to deter parking the LA enforcement officers will have a purge if it gets ignored

    Don’t worry, Govt’s will push the police to dish out fines for partial pavement parking, then when the emergency services can’t get down streets more fines will ensue-the Govt are desperate for funds. Cynical moi?🙄

    I totally agree re the parking within 15m of a junction. There is a van continually parked at the top of our road only about 5m from the junction. To get out of our road we have to be completely on the wrong side of the road and hope that another vehicle doesn't turn in, off the main road. We have told the police about it but they don't want to know and told us it is a council matter. The council says it is nothing to do with them. We can't win.

    Re parking on pavements, if the circumstances allow then it is probably not too bad a thing as it allows traffic to flow more freely, especially on narrow roads. In France they allow it in some places but only where there is a minimum of 1m between the kerb side of the vehicle and the facing property and providing there is a white line to delineate how far over a vehicle can go onto the pavement and that pavement parking is therefore allowed.

    Did you know? that if using a charging point for EVs at home the Vat is 5 Percent but it rises to 20 percent if using a charger in other places? And as many houses/flats do not have access to parking for home charging it seems to descriminate against the largest future?EV ownersurprised

    I’m thinking the Govt have an early plan to move the tax lost from ICE vehicles onto the vehicle of the future. Nothing unusual there-death & taxes, the most usual expectations of our World🤷🏻‍♂️

    Yep, charging when on the road is deemed a service, so you actually pay 20% VAT on the service cost, not the electricity. Charging at home, you are just consuming electricity. I agree - it does make it even harder for those who can’t home charge…
