Do any members know of a raised seat that would fit my Thetford Cassette toilet.  I am just about to get a new hip and would like to recoup in the caravan but I think I would struggle with the low seat.  There are many available for regular toilets and I just wondered if anyone has fitted one to a Thetford?  I have tried a foam one but that slips everywhere despite being fixed - and 4" of foam as a mind of it's own when sat upon!  TIA.

Pippah, I don’t know of anything specific. However, if you know of anyone with a 3D printer, they might be able to sort something out for you after discussing and measuring. Just a thought, amazing what they can produce using 3D.

See what.  your adult services at your county council say,  you could be supplied with one for home which you could then take with you ,

Great replies thank you both very much - I will work on them!  I am not intending going anywhere for a while but I think recouping in the caravan might be easier than the house!

Hope things go well for you. We have a neighbour with a 3D printer, so Know what stuff they are capable of producing.

I have a ‘Homecraft Savanah Raised Toilet Seat with Lid’. Check Amazon.  It fits fairly well in the toilet and stays in place.  My hip replacement is due in 3/4 weeks so maybe we’ll go through it together!! 🥴😀

When I had my hip replaced the Hospital provided me, on loan, a raised seat and frame that fitted around the toilet so you could raise yourself up using your hands. Now I am not sure how either would fit on or around a Thetford Toilet. I wonder if you might have a bigger problem getting in and out of the van?

Good luck with your op heddlo I am in Leicester for the op on 9th Feb.  The surgeon has a facebook group and it's very encouraging!

Thank you everyone for the answers - there certainly is power on CT - I have experienced it before :)

If it is difficult to get something into a caravan, remember it is very easy to remove a complete window to provide access. And while mentioning windows, they should be part of everyone's fire escape plan for should the door be unusable.

David I hope I can get in and out although there is a plan B.  I understand they make sure you can do stairs before you leave hospital so two steps into the caravan should be ok - at least I hope so!  Narrow door not withstanding.  Self-catering (once daughter has gone) would be so much easier without having to walk round the house!  But it's a learning curve - I shall know what to do if the second hip gives up the ghost :)
