New Site Booking System

I've just booked one as a member but with the other club as I preferred their location.
Think about it, if other providers offer static accommodation and CAMC doesn't, then come the day this club could lose out to other providers. We want to see CAMC survive, don't we?

I'm ignoring nothing, PD. I'm not the driving force behind this. It's a way of hedging bets.

That's pretty much what it is now so rebranding won't be necessary.

I have toured in ten countries without a caravan or motorhome - it’s fine - even sometimes using buses and trains without a car. That was always staying in B&Bs, small hotels, hostels, motels and so on. I never thought that caravans and motorhomes were the only way of touring, but “pods” never appealed to me in the least. I don’t see any attraction at all.

But then when many other pitch providers are installing pods and other types of accommodation, very few have any other "Entertainment?" why should the two big pitch provider clubs need to
They may in years to come, cull some of the sites that are not as busy or in areas that are less attractive to be viable

Who cleans the static, glamp tent, pod, teepee, whatever between visitors? And to what standard? If it is done properly it must incur a huge cost, especially when people want to use them for one or two nights for "touring" rather than long term stays.
The only people who will be paying for it are the users, of course.

"For us though they would allow family members without an RV to meet up on site"
yes a big plus from us, we regularly use a site in Devon staying 1 month, not club, that has approx 40 static caravans and a handful of glamping pods, already for this year we have people coming to visit who will stay in the static caravans, it means you can all relax take in the air, and the area, use the swimming pool etc and at the end of the day not worry as to who is going to drive home, or cook, the local Indian does a fantastic take-away.

When all these future changes come in with pods, glamping statics etc perhaps a membership organisation will start up called the Caravan Club that just provides nice touring sites without the bells and whistles at a reasonable cost to its membership, it'll be to late for me I'm afraid

None of my family or friends have LV’s - but no way would any of them dream of sleeping in a pod on a campsite in order to meet us.

According to some posters the demographics of this club are mostly of the older, our generation, and as it seems many younger generations do not have and will not have the finances that many of our generation have enjoyed?,
And it seems also with posts and the media ,everything has to be laid on these days, as younger generations, are now it seems unable to make their own or their children's entertainment,
Then LV ownership as we have known it now has a limited future,
The rise in alternative means of "camping?"ie pods is possibly a way forward
This is very possibly the last year we will be out in our LV if we can cope even this year,,

Stop Press: France to open up to 'tourists' from tomorrow....no 'compelling reason' to be there now required....
just for info, please do not debate in this thread😇

Glamping is fine, we took a lovely 4 bed lodge with hot tub on a (non Club) site as a treat. Family enjoyed it as did we...
but the next week we went back to proper touring....

...but as AD mentions upthread....the place you visit has amenities, pool etc.
we use a site in Oxfordshire in summer and winter....has pool, bar, restaurant etc which just adds to the fact that it's in walking distance of a lovely town.
the lodge we used last summer also had major facilities on site...
can't see the point of a pod in a field without even its own bathroom and no other facs on site...compare this to the resort sites in France and Spain...

+1, me too. I drew the line at camping mind👍🏻. The B&B, plus small Gitte I thought fantastic.

As an aside if they do see themselves as a player in this field they will need to offer more than statics or pods in the middle of nowhere without the facility of pools restaurants etc
Each to there own, but personally I see that as a USP and I’m sure I’m not alone.

+1, it’s the way forward, every company needs to future proof, the world don’t stand still & companies engaging forward planning will survive👍🏻

Is that still about pods?
One of us in my family has said for years , “We have rented a house in the Scillies, or Brittany, orProvence, or Raileh beach at Krabi, or Koh Samui ..are you in with us?”.
Vegan food is this year’s fad. Pods were the fad two or three years ago. I hope this club knows what they are doing.1 -
There are various levels. A lot of folk are probably thinking about the first ones they installed, which you can still hire if you want basic. However, as you say the more upmarket versions have en-suite and TV’s. The big selling point for me would be the fact you can rent for as little as two days. Many providers have a minimum of a week.

Afternoon
You're far from alone Steve. Experience Freedom has proved very successful, lots of families joining up on site with others in their tourers. I'm sure it will grow more in the next couple of years. I'm even booking one for a week in the summer so the family can all get together. Bit of a strange concept to some I guess but people like meeting up on our sites, who'd have thought!
Good job we're all different eh?

As I mentioned above they do have bathrooms. Plus as is evidenced from the difficulty of getting on a CAMC site at busy times, a fair few folk are very happy with a non resort site. From a personal point of view we avoid them as much as possible.
