Satellite TV
my satellite system was working well. But I am now getting a message “no CI module” when trying to tune, I was told it requires a soft ware upgrade. Anybody have any ideas

I agree with Michael....this message is normally associated with trying to watch a 'pay' channel (top up type) on FReeview.
if you have a seperate sat tuner, ensure you have the source to HDMI (or scart) if that's how it's connected to the tv.

I assume this is a roof fixed automatic system? On my previous motorhome my Mectronic system suddenly stopped working, it wouldn't lock onto a signal, and it required a software upgrade to be installed to get it working again. If you dish locks onto the satellite, rather than going round and round I suspect that is not the issue.

Look at the signal quality to make sure you are on the correct sat. If you are then retune the channels. If you have the option select FTA (free to air) channels only. CI module assumes you are on a paid service, this can happen when they replace the channel that you boot up to by changing the channel map.

I have the same problem as Mikewill7 . I saw a specialist who update my RSL4 system and told me I needed a new tv. I bought a new tv now having the no ci module and won't allow me even to search channels . It did work for a couple of trips now constant ci module. I've had no joy trying to sort this in 18 months and before the new tv did a 300 mile round trip to see the RSL4 specialist who update the system and said new tv needed. I've no idea now suppose I will have to get some sort of card. Any advice or ideas welcome.
