BMW 1 Series (rwd) for towing?

Is there anyone with experience of towing a lightweight caravan (mtplm approx 1000kgs) with a 1 series please? Considering purchasing a 118i or 120i rear wheel drive model. Thanks.

    I have a 118D SE 1 series (2012) automatic and tow an Elddis Xplore 302 (MTPLM 950kgs). 

    Obviously this is a diesel and not the petrol variant you are after.
    I have had no problems what so ever, there is enough grunt to get me up all the hills I have encountered so far and it pulls away fine.

    Great think is I can get 60+mpg on a long run (even 70 once or twice) which halves when towing.
