Fiat Ducato back-up key programming

We own a 2017 motorhome that is based on the Fiat Ducato platform.  When we collected it from the dealer we were given two sets of keys: the first set has a Fiat remote fob with three buttons and the second (back-up) has a 'token like' fob with only two buttons.

After four years the batter has now died in the back-up remote.  I've been advised by the local motor shop that if I replace the battery on the remote I will need to re-program it.  Whilst I can find videos online advising how to do this for the standard Fiat van, I can't kind anything relating specifically to a motorhome and in particular to the none OME back-up fob with only two buttons.

I find it strange that with some of my more hi-tech cars remote key battery is a straight forwards DIY job, but yea olde Fiat seems to require dealership or expert intervention.

Has anyone out there ever changed their own battery and re-programmed it?

No but Timpson supermarket kiosks can do the job and cut new keys, including chipped ones, but you need to take the master key with you as well.

Why not change the battery and see what happens?

There’s usually a “bloke’ in every town who can do the installation and programming job for you at a fraction of the cost of involving the main dealer. Usually found in a town centre kiosk dealing in all manner of shoe repairs, key cutting etc. Not Timsons, too expensive and lack expertise. I had to replace a VW key recently, main dealer price £300, bloke in kiosk price £65. They may need access to the vehicle to upload the software.
