TVs in awnings
just been on a site on angelsey, and nearby there was a large caravan complete with awning the length of the van, just a couple staying in it, in the evening they sat in the awning watching the tv fairly loud could even hear it inside our van, i dont think they realised that a thin sheet of cotton allows sound to travel.

Did you ask them to turn it down? Many annoyances are caused by people who do not intend to do so and often a polite word will do the trick.

If it was club site then if a friendly chat and request doesn't work then take it to the wardens, but usually as said people don't realise they are causing a problem and it will be cleared up soon.

We've been near people with loud TVs and radios. Mainly "over there" and I've always managed to get them to turn it down, with many an apology. Once though, I had the door closed in my face when asking them to turn it down, but they closed all doors and windows, on a very hot night, and we never heard anything after that, ("over there"). They were gone by 7.30 next morning!
I do agree that it's unacceptable to force near neighbours to listen to TV/music etc; we're extremely conscious of anything that might make a noise to our neighbours.

It just puzzles me that anyone would want to watch a TV in the awning, unless the TV was too large to set it up in the caravan? Surely much more comfortable watching it in the van. Anyone who does it care to explain why? On a previous thread about heating in awnings someone said they did it because the dogs were more comfortable in the awning than in the van, one of them was blind I seem to recall. So perhaps they are in the awning to keep their dogs company?

In this day and age, with all the blue tooth technology available, why should anyone have a TV or music disturbing others. 🤷♀️

Our worst experience was finding ourselves next to a C&Cc site manager, living in a large tent with his telly blasting out. I think it was the Edinburgh Tattoo that finally got to us especially as it was by the sea in Devon!! Hadn't got the heart to tackle him as it was already bank holiday mayhem on site.
No tvs in awnings, please!

I would find it obtrusive too, but on sites with outfits just 6 metres apart it's probably inevitable. My own answer was always to choose sites where there was more room.

7 people can listen to 1 TV if the Bluetooth is the 5th upgrade👍🏻. You also control your own volume, if 2 people are watching the same movie each can listen to their own volume level.

They aren’t plugged into the TV. You connect Bluetooth headphones to a Bluetooth signal from the TV. No wires involved. Most TVs can be made Bluetooth by a simple rather cheap little device. I have headphones that I can connect to all sorts of things. Once I have them on, I can wander around listening to music from my phone, the TV, my iPad, etc.....and not annoy anyone else.

I am sure that there is somewhere a device that, plugged into ones TV, allows the sound to be delayed by a couple or three seconds. Just imagine the chaos one miserable old Bleep Bleep Bleep can cause on a site with very small, close together, pitches

Apparently 1 in 3 adults start to lose their hearing about the age of 65. Given CMC membership seems skewed towards that demographic I guess it goes with the territory as those affected will crank up the volume oblivious to any problems created.

After being a member for 8 years, I had the problem for the first time a couple of weeks ago when on a CL. It wasn't very loud just rather intrusive and went on until around 11.30 pm but as I was only there for 2 nights I did not say anything. During the football world cup a member, who must have thought that the rest of the site liked football as well, would turn the volume up in his van when a game was on and leave the van door wide open so it could be heard about 4 vans away, which I did find very annoying.

I do sometimes sing along when on my bike (but only upstairs in attic). Never wear headphones when cycling. 😁

You need to use streaming sites to get a full choice of many new/old movies & original content ADP👍🏻

Of the 30 plus sites we stopped on this year, there was only couple on which streaming wouldn’t have been possible on one of our two phone networks. However, although reasonable for most other things our data allowances are nowhere near generous enough. I used up over a gigabyte just watching the grand prix at Leyburn, where there is no TV signal due to ongoing issues with the transmitter.

I don't struggle ADP I just don't bother with a TV set at all.
if there does happen to be something I want to watch or listen to, very rare occurrence, I just use some sort of catch up, iplayer, BBC sounds etc. I agree with you about the current content. I know we are in a minority. I do tend to listen to the radio more.
The only time we regularly used a TV was funnily enough when we went abroad and watched some French or German programmes, especially the news reports as we found this helped with our understanding of the language and what was going on in that country. Not always a success but it definitely helped particularly after a few weeks. News readers were great and they are very clear speakers, plus a few politicians tended to be understandable.
