I was at the Wirral Site recently and was going to wash my bike in the combined bike and dog wash, then thought better of it as it is an E bike, with the battery situated underneath the rear carrier.  Has anyone with an electric bike ever used this type of facility and did they have any problems with their bike after using it?

They survive pouring rain on a regular basis. Don’t pressure wash, be careful around electrical connections, so BB’s sponge and bucket is best bet. Pressure washing isn’t good for non e bikes either, long term.

As said they are designed for being out in the rain and the mountain bike versions are deigned to go through more than the odd puddle and seeing the state some of them come back in they certainly have to be cleaned somehow.

Both of mine say to wash without the battery in place, Bosch do a substantial rubber plug in cover for the battery connection to use while washing and transport which I use while the Brose (which I haven't found one for yet - is there one?) just gets a small plastic bag over the contacts for protection. I also put one on the LCD displays and control unit on the bars while washing. I've seen some advise the use WD 40 fast drying contact cleaner on the contacts. No probelm in over 3000 miles on the Bosch motor.

I have been told don't wash your ebike upside down though as there are drain holes at the bottom to let water out?

I've use Muc-off spray then a gentle wash down.

We were up to our cranks in muddy water on one ride this year. That took some cleaning, particularly the chain set and gearing. OHwasnt impressed by my choice of route. Mind, he got his own back😂

Yes good idea AD. I hate a soggy saddle as well😁 We had a dual bike cover made for back of our MH. Protects them from worst of weather. Think it was from Taylormade.

I do use the facility but someone has to be very careful. It's always advisable to disconnect the battery during washing to avoid any issue.
