Did you speak to the site staff to see if they knew of what the problem was or came from?

We have seen more flies this year than any other in recent memory so maybe it was just an exceptional breeding season.

We were having a meal at a pub in the lakes a few weeks ago, start of October, it was evening time and there was a serious fly problem especially when we were eating with many tables complaining, the owners did the best they could and offered a discount, but we have never been affected that bad ever.

I am on a small commercial site in rural Herefordshire and it's the same here. They seem to be attracted to white especially on the motorhome side in the sunshine.

I saw similar in the North East a few weeks back .....  the sunny side of all the white cars in the car park were covered in the horrible little things.

We too have had them in large numbers down in Cornwall and Devon. We have to keep the fly screens down All of the time to try and keep them out of the van as Flyte gets very upset when he heard any in the van, although he's not bother when he is outside. It must be that the buzzing sound they make resonates differently within the confines of the van than it does in the outside.

We have got them here in the Lot France a lot more out when the sun is out and now have got the Ladybirds harlequin species that are attracted to the caravan and try to get inside if possible again they like white and they give off a horrible smell as we had a terrible time with them about 4 years ago in a different caravan.

The flies are cluster flies. They come in off the fields looking to find a nest for the winter.

Have cleaned the caravan since we got home but still find Fly Poo left on the van. Probably local ones now.

Mark, we had the same problem in August. They must start winter early, although a pest control man we had in in the summer to deal with several wasp nests did say that Cluster Flies would be the problem in Autumn.

We have had the same problem in Spain, one site we were on was really bad. Despite having some containers suspended above the pitches that had some sort of deterrent in them.

We gave up trying to sit outside on the pitch we went to the beach instead which was totally fly free.  Tiny little flies they were not your normal house fly.
