Hi,
Well, this was unexpected! After 'enjoying' seriously horrendous caravan-based holidays in my childhood, the last thing I was ever going to do was to buy a caravan. So I bought a caravan.
My wife Kristy and I are now the happy owners of a Swift Azzura 400. Possibly not the most up to date van in the park but a great way to start. We had an experimental weekend in not too far away in Norfolk a couple of weeks ago and it went mostly OK. The road closure and diversion down the county's narrowest and twistiest lane, with a ford in the middle, added an extra element of excitement to the event. Once on site and connecting up the water, witnessing the drain plug spontaneously pop off the Cascade 2 water heater was a bonus. I was later able to stem the flow with a porridge stirrer. Apparently, it's called spurtle, which is not what the lady in the shop called it but this is a family page.
I guess, nothing in life is meant to go by without a bit of a challenge!
We are already planning our next trip, hopefully before the weather gets too cold. Not to self: remember to disengage the motor-mover before attempting to tow the van.

Welcome to the world of caravanning. Yes, there can be a few challenges. It’s amazing we’re still at it after those we’ve experienced over the years, but it’s well worth it when you can go pretty much anywhere you want with your own little home from home. Enjoy.
