Suspenders for keeping fitted sheets in place
Hi Guys, we ordered a new van on Monday and I thought to complement it I would treat myself to some new bedding. Well what a shock when I looked at a island bed fitted sheet. Prices from £22 up to £50. No thanks I will stick with my tried and tested solution whether for a standard bed at home or the odd shaped beds in a caravan. Easy to use and sheet stays in place no matter how much I wriggle about. £1.99 for a set of four.

I got mine from E bay David.
Edit: Hope I've managed to make your link work. Best wishes David (DSB)

Hi All,
we use them to put throws on our settee bases. Instant removeable loose covers, but stay on when we lift the seats to get to the storage.
The Back cushions are covered in pillow cases, which can also be thrown into the washing machine.

We also use the Lidl ones, tuck under any surplus on the cut off corner of the mattress.
For our seating area, I made 2 sets of fitted covers for the seats only, from a couple of cotton bedspreads from Ikea (£2 each), still like new after 12 years. They have tape loops along the edges and are held in place with cord laced between the loops. We wash them after every trip.
Did not bother with the back cushions as they get little wear, we only sit to eat, otherwise we stretch out!

Our answer for the fitted sheet issue [it's only taken us 5 years] is to put a matttress cover with deep elasticated sides over the mattress and topper, then only use deep fitted sheets which we bought from John Lewis which don't ride up and stay in place..But I may just buy some of those suspenders too.....

Ours isn't an island bed (it's against the side of the caravan, with a cut-off corner). I don't know if this makes any difference for the island bed, but we always use standard fitted sheets but with elastic all the way around rather than just the corners. We find this works OK on our caravan bed. I wonder if it miight be worth trying this sort on the Island bed???

Mine were from Kleeneze. Haven’t seen a Kleeneze catalogue for ages.

A set of gentleman's trouser braces also seem to work, especially with the tapered end to the mattress. The single (rear) strap of the braces to the top of the sheet and the two front straps to the sheet on either side of the mattress. We tried it on a break over the bank holiday to considerable effect.

I have just ordered a set of the triple type from China, via Ebay...
4.09 Eur, £3.66 delivered
For use at home. Our bottom fitted sheets always ride up during the night, hopefully these might fix it. Type 1 are the 2 fix type, 3 the triple.

I've looked for something like this for my bed at home but the mattress is far to heavy to lift up / turn over to fit them so i'll have to make do with loose sheets.

Another resurrected thread 😁.
At home we use widely available standard fitted sheets. On the MH island bed we use Jersey fitted sheets which mold to the shape. Those from M&S are comfortable and my head of housekeeping says they are good quality, easy fit, easy wash and dry. Who am I to dispute this! 😉

Thank you Bakers2. Yes I've got fitted sheets, but even with very deep sheets (the mattress is about 300mm deep) the corners at the headboard end stil ride up and have to be pulled back under most mornings.
