Database of lay-bys on main A roads

I am interested in finding out if there is such a thing as a current database of lay-bys, suitable for a car and caravan/motorhome, on main trunk and A roads in the UK?  Motorway services are easy to find on maps, but I haven’t been able to find a source for dual carriageways, or A roads as we go cross country to get to sites.

Any help in finding such a source would be very welcome

Thanks

Not sure if there is a database, MMM normally have good information on suitable motorhome parking (car parks more than lay bys)

My expeirience is most A roads will have lay-lys as they are used by lorries so are normally suitable for car and caravan or motorhome

If you have a route in mind another option is to look on google maps street view this will also give you a good indication of size

Yes there is a database, I added a link to a previous question about it. I think it was on a road hauliers info site. Can't find it now but you might track it down if you look under transport type searches. It was quite detailed. smile

I have always thought this a good idea but the technicality in doing it must be massive. Even if your know where they are the chances of them being long enough if someone if already there could be slim.

Try looking at the route on Google maps in the area you are looking at
