Wonderful photography Rocky, but probably illegal the moment the drone entered the cloud/fog as the drone was no longer in the operators line of sight and he had no idea if there was any birds near the drone.

Again, interesting images that suggest the operator was flying above a cyclist that was less than 50 metres from the drone as were the 2 buildings it would appear. This illustrates the point I made above how difficult to fly these things legally.

No it illustrates your lack of understanding.
As far as people/buildings are concerned, the word "Control" is used.
Also 50 metres is a line from the ground up, so for example flying 50 metres directly above a building is acceptable, not in my eyes, but I didn't write the code!
Buildings are also linked to the operator.

Not really. it demonstrates that anyone entering the area renders the flight potentially dangerous and therefore difficult to remain legal and unless the drone has an altimeter fitted and relayed to the pilot, how is a minimum 50 vertical metres maintained.

He didn’t report getting charged. Laws are great when there are officers of the law available to scan every field & forest in the Country oh yes & village/town & city. The reality is there’s not enough to catch the real bad guys let alone those that infringe slightly. So we’ll still sleep safely👍🏻😊

Judging by the amount of kit he had, I expect he would be registered as a professional flyer and exempt!
Drones are used for various tasks, for example house photography.
These operators would be in breach of all the Drone codes but gain exception from the CAA.

Sorry if Im breaking forum rules, but this shows no knowledge at all.
That's exactly what the Drone shows on the screen, as well as gps coordinates, battery life, collision detection, air speed, attitude warning (the amount of tilt apllied by the Drone to fly in wind, if its too windy the Drone gived instruction for you to land via voice commands), etc.
They really are far more complex than I think you understand.
Honestly they are incredible bits of kit especially as I posted earlier, not that many years ago I flew Rc Helicopters, incredibly difficult to learn if at all.

No offence taken W&M but, although I have no knowledge of the workings of a drone, I have witnessed several breached of the law with these things.
Short Eared Owls driven off their hunting ground on a bitterly cold evening after days of wind and rain, which could have left them without enough food to survive. Even when approached and the situation explained, he continued to disrupt the birds. Drones flown over children's play area until a few parents remonstrated with the pilot.
Just to clarify my comments were not directed at the registered professionals, but were intended to show that it could be difficult to abide by the laws in an urban area where the drone must be flown 50metres from private property and where other people take their leisure activities, such as buildings and people walking about or cycling.
Rocky summed it up quite well if there aren't enough police around it seems ok to flaunt the laws. Now that sounds like a familiar Caravan Forum opinion.

What about the fact the U.K. govt are in partnership with Amazon(prime air) to deliver parcels by Drones. I guess the (chicken little’s) will not see that as ironic to worry about a few small Drones but walk unconsciously into a sky full of huge drones carrying heavy packages. See below-

Better than on someone else's head Brue.
I read recently that the idea had been surpassed by Amazon offering delivery franchises to all and sundry at £10k per franchise and up to £300k per annum turnover. There was also talk of self destructing drones for bad weather. Look out below.

Give it some welly Welly, love to see the footage of Drones, as in all walks of life there are the 'few' that give bad press. We see it in threads about electric usage, dog walking, awning heating, speeding , the list goes on

Thanks Rocky for pointing me to this man's YouTube channel, I'm now a subscriber.
I've looked at his other videos and found one for his Mavic drone, within he explains the camera settings he uses!
Not sure I will follow them, but incredibly informative to have.
He seems to use a high end Photo editing suite to enhance the results, but very interesting to see how a professional does it. I have downloaded Pinnacles latest version,the basic one, which is the upgrade of the video suite I used almost 20 years ago for my video camera, remember those?

W&M, most of the Youtube pro’s incorporate Drones in their work flow. ND is one who is just buzzing when he’s on the screen👍🏻😊
edit-check out Simon Baxter too, he is big on woodland & forestry, his B-roll is excellent, 2nd only to his panoramic filming using a Drone.

Out and about today I used the drone as I intended, to gain visual access to buildings I couldnt walk to.
This is I believe used to br a wind pump, its sat in a Reed bed.
Best of all I hovered the drone directly over the ruin, the bricks of the walls are something

I know this is an old thread but I am looking for advice. I know that there was another thread regarding drones a couple of months ago, did it get trashed?
Now for the advice. I have recently purchase a DJI mini 2. My phone is a Samsung S21 5G. I have been on the Google play store to download the DJI Fly App but I can’t find it so I have downloaded the DJI Pilot app. This doesn’t appear to work, the message says that an aircraft is not connected. If I move the wheel on the controller the camera moves (curious).
I know the drone, controller work cos I’ve connected via the flight App to my i-pad mini 2.
Anyone got any ideas
