EHU cable protection

Some of the CL/CS’s that we stay at have their EHU supply across the roadway from the pitch. We used to just trail the power cable across the roadway but, after it suffered damage & tripped the whole site out [we were not popular!], we need to protect the cable. I have seen lengths of rubber protection that can be laid on top of the cable but am struggling to find a source. It would need to flexible [i.e. able to roll up] and probably over 3m in length. Any suggestions?

    On a similar subject...

    Whilst away a couple of weeks ago, there was an obvious newby arrived with a motorhome. Their EHU cable was on a neat plastic reel and the socket was very close to the motorhome, so the spare cable was left neatly and tightly on the reel. Leaving the cable tightly coiled on the reel, is a really bad idea.

    The cable needs to dissipate the heat, when under load. Run the cable under a full 16amp load and it will get quite warm even when not tightly coiled. Run it under a full load tightly coiled up and they can become very hot, melt and even catch fire.

    It has absolutely nothing to do with inductance, as many people think, it is all to do will heat dissipation from the cable. A cable can remain coiled up, but not on a reel and the coil needs to be a very loose coil so the air can get to it to cool it.
