Window damage and insurance cover
Having just returned from a trip to the caravan club site at Moorhampton, I noticed whilst washing the caravan on my return home a chip on the windscreen which had begun to spread. The van is a 2006 avondale dart and one of the few suppliers of the large front window is Eeco. Having obtained a replacement price I thought to check with my insurance, Adrian Flux whether I was covered with accidental damage. Having initially confirmed I was covered I was then told glass/perspex was not specified on the policy. Having checked all the small print it's true I can't see any reference to the inclusion of windows but similarly no reference to its exclusion. I chose Adrian Flux as a long standing reputable company but perhaps I should do better to just take out a policy with a less expensive broker. Any other member have similar experiences or advice. Any comments welcome.

If you are sourcing a replacement window, it just might be worth having a word with Raymond James Caravans, Carlyron Road, Atherstone. They trade from the original Avondale factory and some of the older service staff used to work for Avondale. Someone may just be able to point you in the right direction for a cheaper option??....

I must admit that I do not what is contained within a typical Adrian Flux policy but find it strange that you should have to ask to include a fundamental integral part of the caravan such as windows. Is the door covered? What about the tyres? or the Plumbing?
Seems very restrictive if that is the case. You will have to check what they asked you on the proposal form. Ask for a copy from them if you do not have one. Can you copy in their definition of Caravan into a post?
Any standard policy that covers Accidental Damage should cover the glass aspect.
Good luck.

Thanks for both replies to my dilemma.I will certainly contact Adrian Flux again to query the extent of their insurance cover especially as my policy is due for renewal this month. Also, many thanks for the address of possible leads to locating prospective sources for a replacement front window.

Having read some of the comments I decided to ring Adrian Flux again armed with the information from caravan club members. To my surprise, I was told that windows are an integral part of the caravan and are covered by insurance. Because they are not listed under the excess section the previous assistant took the view that they were not therefore covered. On the slightly negative side they are subject to a hefty £300 excess as it is considered to be accidentally damage. I was asked if I still wanted to claim and as the front screen is considerably more than this excess I decided to continue. Hopefully a fairly satisfactory end to the saga thanks the interaction with club members
