Elddis delays

Anyone else having issues getting any reliable news out of Elddis at the moment? We've had a new Buccaneer on order since mid December 2020. Delivery date has ranged from April to July but eventually promised several months ago a build date this week (May 28th).  Been chasing dealer lots and now told date was delayed yesterday to mid June but and Elddis won't now commit to any dates. So unlikely we'll get it before July. Elddis Customer Service sound exasperated and say even they can't get information internally and only dealer can help. Clearly major production issues but don't get why Elddis won't come clean and update customers honestly. Anyone else finding the same?

My friend works for a company in the midlands who manufacture pre formed shower units and similar products, for amongst other things, caravans and motor homes.  She says that they are very busy but there are problems getting the raw materials so if they are having problems,  perhaps other manufacturers are having similar problems.  Whether that is due to Covid or Brexit or both, she did not say!

Have you heard anything since?  I ordered mine at the end of September 2020 for an April delivery which was put back to May and then again to July although no solid date.  Whilst I sympathise with the supply problems manufacturing companies are facing, I find it very frustrating when I see new caravans being delivered and factories increasing their output and advertising their new vans.  Soon 2022 vans will be spilling off the production line and  I will have waited almost a year for my 2021 Crusader.  I hope we get our vans soon.

I ordered my Elddis Crusader September 2020 to pick up March 2021. Delivery was moved to May then July. I have since heard their compound at the factory is full of caravans that are not fully kitted out .

We've now cancelled our order as no one could say when it might arrive. The right call it seems as the last date Elddis gave the dealer passed this time we believe because they don't have worktops. Unbelievable Elddis refuse to give customers information when you call them so has cost us dearly waiting 6 months for nothing. Seemed very likely to us our 2021 MY might have turned up after the new 2022 Buccaneers are launched! Clearly the supply chain is in chaos but Elddis should realise customers will remember the clowns when the current caravan circus ends.

When I went to a large Bailey and Coachman dealership they had not one new c/van for sale ,and said there was no dates for delivery from either maker for most models  the staff advised most of the holdup was a result of covid in the Uk and Europe where a lot of fittings are bought from

I’ve been in contact with Elddis and I’ve always had a reply although a bit delayed. They just would not comment and referred me back to my dealer. I blame Brexit as well as COVID 19. Brexit is the hidden problem. We are not noticing the Brexit problems because we are busy dealing with COVID-19.

Just had an update this morning. My July delivery is no longer possible.

Elddis are saying a caravan with my name on it will be delivered on the 14th September. If it’s true and I receive the van it will be 12 months from ordering to delivery.

We ordered our Affinity 550 September 2020.

we have had several delivery dates since last being July.

Just received email from dealer now delayed to end of August. Email states manufacturers having supply issues from Europe.

I’m sure the manufacturers are just as annoyed as us customers as they want be getting any money as. It sold the vans.

Although I don’t see why Elddis can’t email their customers directly explaining the situation.

We order a 115 Motorhome in February. Were told May/June, then end of July. Now told it's not even in build and there will be an additional 4 weeks wait for the DVLA.

We've been told Brexit, Suez Canal and Covid are to blame but no specifics.

I agree, Elddis should be more proactive and maybe get some sympathy from their customers.

    Oh lucky you!

We've ordered our Affinity 554 mid-October 2020 with estimated delivery March 2021.... yep, you guessed it - still waiting....

Latest from the dealer is that the van isn't even on production! so maybe their estimated delivery for August is maybe slightly over-optimistic...

Same issues here we ordered our caravan in Oct 20 and delivery was expected in April , that has come and gone along with the promise it would be May then July now August , the dealer does not seem to understand that we wanted a new caravan in the spring time for this season not one that by the time it arrives will be about to be superseded by the 2022 model . All they  say is well next years model will cost more .Failing to grasp the key issue, which for me is I don’t want a 2021 model delivered at the end of the season and being expected to pay full price .To make thing worse we were encouraged to trade our caravan when we ordered the new one which seemed ok considering we did not plan to use it for 5-6 months , so currently we have no caravan .you could not make this up !

All i really want is a honest truthful update on the issues and and an idea of realistic delivery date .Neither Elddis or the dealer seem able to give me that ?

Elddis customer care could not help or give me any info  !!!

I would think that if you bayou do get ve not got your 2021eldiss then the one that you do get may not be as new as the dealer tries to tell youundecided

I have had a. Email from Bailey showing their 2022 models that seem available now, surprised

Do you know if they are actually available or are they just after a deposit and giving you a promise of a delivery "sometime"?

There seems to be two issues here. Lack of vans for one reason or another and lack of communication from the manufacturer to the dealer.

Elddis are owned by Hymer I believe. They had until fairly recently an excellent reputation for build quality across there ranges but equally so a very poor reputation for customer service and communication. I speek from experience.

Latest update this week is van is now delayed until sept , no more detail than that available from dealer or Elddis . I had a concern that  Elddis might  decide to not fulfil their 2021 order book as the 2022 model is due for release soon , however the dealer assure me that they will. This should make anyone ordering a 2022 model slightly concerned as it highly likely they would not see it in 2022 ?
Only time will tell now but I remain very sceptical about what will happen next and when I will actually receive my van .

I have an Elddis Affinity 554 2019.   Fridge has just packed up for the second time.  I'm told replacement parts could take up to 46 weeks!

Obviously delays on not just new vans but parts as well.  Trouble is, I'm stuck with a van I can't use.   Any offers?

ordered an Aruba last sept. still waiting.. with no delivery date in site. the excuses now are just rubbish. 6 months delay i could accept, but nearly 12 months. I could have sourced all the bits and built the van my self in this Time. This is just bad planning and bad Business. Communication from Elddis and the dealers is lacking to say the least.

Why are you unable to use your caravan just because the fridge is broken? I'd just use an electric cool box.

Remember the days when caravans didn’t have fridges and cool boxes didn't exist? We managed.

Well finally contacted Elddis by phone. Good news and bad news. Good news is Elddis have given us a Vin number for our van.

The bad news it’s been knocked back even further to 30th September.
I give up. No caravanning this season.

Really don’t want to add to anyone’s woes but, we had seven caravans during our long touring time, quite happy with all of them and very happy with most.. except the Elddis we bought from new. Nothing but problems, one after the other. We sold it after 9 months and would never have another Elddis. I know that various other makes of vans can also have problems but these were dreadful. If I had been waiting this long I would make ‘time of the essence’ then I would cancel, get my deposit back and buy a good available second hand van. We have all lost last years holidays I wouldn’t want to waste this season as well, time is precious and life too short.

I'd cancel the order. Whilst the length of time you are now being quoted is not unusual for some caravans it is longer than you reasonably expected and could still move. You will not be able to enjoy a summer in your new van so why pay for the expense of one.

I'm with the others, cancel and walk away.

Elddis are playing folk for suckers and, knowing there's someone out there to buy it, can you imagine how they might be throwing the vans together?

We bought an Elddis Affinity 550 in 2016. This was to be our retirement caravan so we checked and double checked all the information to ensure we were making a safe purchase. The 10 year damp ingress warranty did it for us as we wanted peace of mind when spending our hard-earned cash.

That caravan cased us major problems with damp and poor quality of design and workmanship! These were fixed under warranty but the stress it all caused us was excessive. We put up with this for 2 years before trading it in at a substantial loss.

We now have a German caravan which is in a different league.  We would never again buy an Elddis no matter what assurances they offered.  I would agree with the above comments - cancel and walk away.

But if, as suggested by some on here, you cancel and walk away and go elsewhere you will be right at the back of the queue again and probably be waiting even longer, unless you go for a second hand caravan.
