Only a yellow warning with less than a 50 percent chance of rain so as long as you are not on flood plain, it should not be a problem. Even less risk further east.

Great, we’ve just arrived at a CL, just south of Wimborne ☹️

After a week or so with 25c temperatures means there is a lot of heat in the SW atmosphere so anything is possible but equally with these sort of weather systems you may escape without such much as a shower. Wind got up and a few spots of rain in Cornwall a few hours back but now warm and calm.

Freddy - Wimborne is lovely, went to school and lived there in the 1970s. Be sure to visit the Barley Mow Inn near Colehill. Avoid visiting Bournemouth like the plague.

Weather forecasts are like financial forecasts, no relation to reality tongue-out

We are off to Gowerton in the morning, forecast says it'll be drier than at home. laughing

New rain tyres on the tug, will just take it steady as we're on holiday not a timetable. Given the traffic forecast it'll be slow going anyway at least until we cross the border. tongue-out

You couldn’t be more wrong, forecasts are extraordinarily accurate most of the time.

TBH, we’re not pub-goers. The CL is at Stapehill? When deciding on a destination, I’ll pick up a certain place I/we want to visit. In this case it’s Compton Acres, which I understand has a rather good Japanese garden🙂 Another we’ll probably visit is Knoll Gardens. We won’t be doing Bournemouth, the traffic, trying to find somewhere to park, all the crowds, not for us.

Just for something to do I've just put six SW locations and three in Wales into the BBC Weather app. There are weather warnings but strangely not one wind arrow shows anything above 15MPH

So the main headline is from a newspaper and my details are from a weather app so which do you believe.

BBC forecast is produced by a German company ‘Meteo Group’, Newspaper forecast is created by who knows who and then there’s the forecast from the Met Office which is the go to source for anybody or commercial/military organisation who needs a serious and accurate forecast. Take your pick.

The wind has dropped quite considerably this evening and the 93% chance of rain we were promised starting around 9pm has yet to materialise. Perhaps later…..

I'm expecting rain and some thunder here on site at Chippenham, in the next 24 hours, and I'm not expecting a 'dry pack-up' when we move sites on Sunday.  However, the wind forecast isn't too bad, so I'm not expecting this to be major.....  hope this isn't a case of 'famous last words'!!!  I think it will be a wet pack-up and wet set-up at the next site.  At least our 'house-sitters' (AKA Son & family) will be nice and dry!!!

This morning there is even less of a chance of rain  and there is no wind to speak of. Weather forecasting is still not an exact science.

Very still and very quiet down her in LOS, cracking storm overnight but only heavy rain, thunder & lightening, very little wind. No sun as yet but it is very sticky frown all windows and patio doors open, caravan still 20c inside, just opened door and front window to have a blow thru if the wind picks uplaughing. Garden still looks very dry

According to the forecast its supposed to thunder / lightning / wind / rain now, just opened the front door to check, its bone dry and calm. Go Look See generally beats checking a screen of some sort be it telly, phone, tablet, laptop

The only water is that from the hot tub draining down onto the patio.

Checked the mapping systems last night and this morning, journey time reduced by 30 minutes on the 160 mile route.

Must be an off day for the forecast, well it is the weekend tongue-out

Must dash, got to fuel the tug, pack the foodstuffs and booze for the orf to get to site and put up the windbreak, flagpole, LED lights, cinema screen, boom box just like a proper holiday tongue-out

Happy holiday here we come laughing

Who’d have thought it…..10% chance of rain on Met Office forecast and it’s not raining on your patio!

I assume you're at Plough Lane, David?

As so often happens since the forecasters have gone to these coloured "alert" systems, the forecast,  here anyway, was a bit overdone. We had a couple of peels of thunder overnight and some but not much rain. We've been out with the dogs this morning and it's a cool, fresh dry morning with a gentle breeze.

Some folk put too much trust in Madame Kirkwood and her colleagues!   wink

The problem with weather forecasting is that at one of the process you’ve got climate scientists, countless years of empirical data and super computers and at the other end a consumer who may, or may not have an IQ above their age. BTW, Madam Kirkwood isn’t a meteorologist, just a TV presenter. Like many things these day, why take an intelligent approach when you can get a celebrity or tabloid journalist to do it for you?  If you want a reliable local forecast ask a sailor or farmer.

Agreed - don't take my comments re Madame Kirkwood too literally! wink

Personally, I prefer to watch Lucy Verasamy, but that's nothing to do with weather forecasting! surprised

Overnight, we had a few downpours accompanied by thunder and lightning. Now that’s what I call bass! As I type, it’s just starting to brighten up after a very dull/dank start.

You can not let the weather dictate your enjoyment. Just enjoy your location and making new friends it will all be good in the end.

Yes, Chris.  We had thunder and rain overnight, which sent one of our daughters dogs into 'loopy' mode!  (She is staying g with us a couple of nights whilst her husband is working in Switzerland!!)  No rain since breakfast, but everywhere is a little damp and it's not warm.

Holiday wear? Have not "shopped " to get that sort of clothing ,the shorts are on from about April until November or later , have three pair that do the wear in wash and ready to wear, found it better to dry wet legs than wet trouserscool
