More caravan breakdowns

Making up for last year we have visited our static van in Stratford on Avon fairly frequently this year. With these regular journeys up and down the M5 we have noticed many caravan breakdowns waiting for rescue, far more than usual. I always feel so sorry for any people who have broken down but far more so for those towing caravans. Not sure if it's due to more being on the road, or more new to caravanning who have got something wrong. We have certainly seen, what would appear to be, inexperienced drivers towing, by the way some of them speed along and overtake badly.

Lots of people with no idea of caravaning, no prep, no experience, often caravans that have been standing for years with little or no maintenance.

Had to swerve to avoid a caravan today near Petersfield that had crossed the centre line - car loaded down at the rear, no towing mirrors, going too fast, so much weight on the tow ball, the caravan and car rear were pogoing wildly as it went along causing the ensemble to wander all over the road.

If it is newbies involved in these breakdowns and accidents (and we have no way of knowing that), what a shame they are having such an unfortunate introduction to the hobby.

It must be a soul destroying experience whether for a newby or an old hand and I hope the people involved escaped injury.
