    Hi Nellie,

Applicants often ask what sort of nightly rate they can charge and are advised to look at the local CL sites to them to get a rough idea of nightly rate verses the facilities offered.

As mentioned previously, it is the owners decision and what they wish to charge and prices can be changed at any time.

    Thanks

    Maddie

    Maddie,

Can you clarify please, Link House Farm is shown as a CL site with an address of Embelton, Alnwick, Northumberland but it is missing off the POI list and their web site makes no mention of a CL being available.

Thanks Nellie, yes you are right, don't know why I did not spot this first time on their web site. So it is just the POI that is missing from the list.

Good to see that more sites are opening, as opposed to closing 🙂

I agree with that, Freddy, but at the prices many are charging I for one won't be visiting many, but will stick to those that I know offer good value for money.

I guess the average price I pay is around £15 a night, the most I’ve paid is £18. As yet, I haven’t visited a bad one, and most have been very pleasant indeed. At less than half the price (?) of a club site, that, to me, represents very good VFM. I do remember, maybe 30 years ago, paying £2 for an overnight stop in a farmers field, very basic, grass being at least 12” long. I suppose a lot depends on what one wants/expects.

    Fully agree!

A few of them look to be well presented with what appears to be serviced pitches at around £15 per night while others at £18 for an off grid site are well OTT!

I checked out the new one you give an example of, it's not far from me. £18 per night for a grass pitch in a field.

The funny thing is in an earlier post Maddie said that new cl's were advised to check local prices to gauge where to set their price. I think that one must have gone to an NCP car park surprised

    Maddie

Can you check a new entry, Clear View cl, Kings Lynn. There's no price or pitch facilities mentioned. It must be a re-opened cl as there are reviews from 2016

Having looked at some, I agree - £25 in one case, HS with fresh and grey water disposal, and EHU.  No toilet/shower, which is no problem of course, but not at that price.

Good news, bad news. 20 new CL's - hurrah. Bad news - 20 closures - boo.

I notice quite a few of the new ones are getting decidedly pricey, approaching club site prices.

Maddie, can you let me know when Cuttery Farm, Devon was added to the list please?

I'm in the area on a different CL but have passed this one a few times. Can't find it in S.D. so had a look on the Clubs website and it's there but the last review is over 7 years ago.

Just wanting to scratch an itch.

It does make one wonder how many of the "closing CLs" are expanding into commercial  camp sites and using, their CL as a stepping stone as they can claim it is already a camp site? especially if they have not had any adverse local NIMBY activity

Maddie, looking at the web site for Dymock Wood and this shows a commercial site with pitches for both LVs and tents, it certainly is not a CL. Why is it being included in the new CL list?

Same phone number as Haywood Farm - a commercial site with 60 pitches. So have they set aside one field as a CL . or roped off a corner of the main site?  Someone will know.

Crikey - £28 per night for a new CL -  Extra for dogs

There are so many existing options in the area it may have been sensible to have price matched (or even undercut) to attract visitors before increasing the price.

It’s not that an unusual venture, although shared sites are usually a lot smaller. There doesn’t appear to be any mention of a CL area though, which puzzled me, as it is supposed to be separate. We use a similar site on East Coast. A five van CL area, with its own loo and shower, then alongside, a 20 pitch private area that has a separate loo and shower. They do share the extensive dog walk, at no extra cost😂
