Hi

 

We are new to caravaning having bought our first last week, next year we are looking to travel from Somerset to Isle of skye, stopping on the way, looking for recommindations for both please.

 

Do any sites have entertainment?

    You've posted this in two sections so it's likely to get confusing.

    You have replies to your thread in the CL section.

    However, I'm not sure where you want recommendations for, other than near the Isle of Skye. As far as I'm aware, club sites don’t have entertainment but a few have restaurants/bars. Someone may know better than I.

    There are half a dozen sites between Arisaig and Mallaig if you are approaching Skye that way - use the campsite search facility on UKCampsite.co.uk for list, details and reviews. 


    Sites on the way to get there from Somerset depends entirely on how far you want to drive each day

    Mallaig is the expensive route with a ferry fare to consider. Maybe stick to the Skye bridge?

    We travel from S Somerset, on our way north we might  use a variety of stop offs. These include, if using CAMC Tewkesbury/Malvern, Uttoxter, Wirral, Kendal, Englethwaite Hall. Over the border we might go to the NW by various routes but generally we reckon on two hours from Gretna to Stirling  or similar to Loch Lomondside. So it's up to individual choices about places to stop along the way when you reach Scotland, it's all part of the trip. Personally I think I'd enjoy what's on the route rather than spend too long on Skye. You could even stay near Skye and do a few drives over there, it can be a misty isle and the villages are well spread out. Don't miss the Cuillins in the south and the coral beach in the north.

    If you're in both clubs you might like their Moffat site en route and there are CLs too.

    As others have said it all depends on how far you want to drive each day and also if you want to enjoy the sights along the way.
