I use my Ford SMax for towing a 1500 kg Caravan. It has just failed the Mot on worn rear trailing arm bushes. When I removed them they just fell apart. I am wondering whether this a consequence of the extra stress on the bushes caused by towing. Have other people experienced this.

I seem to recall I had the same problem many years ago with a Mark 4 Cortina. Not a problem I subsequently suffered with Vauxhall, Peugeot, Citroen, Nissan or Kia all of which covered far more towing miles than the Ford!!!

things have generally moved on a bit since the days of a live rear axle of a MK3/4/5 Cortina .... at least it was RWD though 🙄 Front had voided bushes which failed in no time and were a right pain to replace
